dear lau.

I need an update on the new glasses situation. Did you go out of your comfort zone with the style? I get mine next week.

Re: dear lau.

I fell off that boat.

I really need to get back on.

I had to wear my glasses yesterday and I saw nothing. I might as well have closed my eyes.

So you're saying I picked out frames, made an appointment a week later for the doc, had my exam, ordered and paid for all of it, and will probably have them before you even go?

Just checking.

yes. that is exactly what I am saying.

Maybe once you look at them and try them on, you'll follow through. It's just getting you in the door that's the hurdle.

I have always had round or oval frames, and I went square this time. I never thought I would look good in square frames, but I actually really like them.

I heard Lenscrafters is good.

Greeny just got hers but she still hasn't given me pics that she promised.

I know Wize Eyez wasn't that great, but that was in Massapequa.

I'm wearing my new frames, I love them. It makes me look so different. I've realized over the years that buying no-name brands isn't all it's cracked up to be. We went Prada this time, DH convinced me.

Do you usually get anti-glare & anti-scratch coating? I got those and transitions lenses this time, so I can forego sunglasses.

Lenscrafters has that thing where you can go back and swap out the frames if you don't like them, right?

I need daylight so I don't need to use the flash. It washes out my already pasty-white face and makes me look ghastly. I haven't forgotten though.

I'll do a before and after even.

Re: dear lau.

oh is that where you went then? Wize Eyes?

I was hoping to see pics too.

I haven't gotten glasses in over 5 years. So I can't remember if I got anti-glare, etc. I am the worst.

Re: dear lau.

No, we went to a doc in Long Beach. There are different levels (and different prices) of anti-glare and anti-scratch coatings. I think I got the Poly-Alize. It was the medium quality/priced one.

And I got the lightweight lenses (because my prescription is really strong), and transitions. Easily the most expensive glasses I've ever had in my life.

But I like them and they'll last, so I guess it's all good. I'll get pics this weekend with them on, but they're brown and look like this:

Re: dear lau.

I had transitions years ago and I hated them because they took too long to change from dark to light. Driving through tunnels was especially fun.

But these are for UV light rays (not sure if all Transitions are like that) so it's not like true polarizing sunglasses. They told me they shouldn't take the place of sunglasses - but that's ok with me, since I just want additional protection and some tinting. Not for them to be super-dark where you can't see my eyes.

Since car windshields already have UV protection, they don't darken in the car. So I haven't really noticed yet, if they darken and how much. I don't see much sunlight till the weekend.

Woo hoo!

What did you decide with the lenses? Did you go to LensCrafters? Do you have pictures with them on? Enquiring minds want to know!

Re: dear lau.

I ordered them yesterday at Costco - they won't be ready for a bit.

I got the thinnest lens available and the anti-reflective treatment - for no other reason then the guy said I should.

total - 199.97

I feel like that was a deal. I don't know if it is. But I feel that way.

Re: dear lau.

I love the insides, they are funky!

And yes, that is a good deal if you got the exam too. Who makes the frames?
