You can say that again!! I have a bunch of things that I didn't register for and have no use for them.

some of it is nice hollie, don't get me wrong. but the reason we didn't register for it is b/c we already got it as an engagement party gift. sheesh. its driving me bananas

Since I always watch wedding shows, my TIVO recorded a home shopping network bridal thing -

The woman on the TV show - who I wanted to slap in the face with the remote- said, and I quote...

'just use the registry to use as a guide to the bride and grooms taste. you dont have to buy off the registry if you dont want to'.

well lady, what the hell did I waste my time scanning all these kitchen items for? because they fit my taste?

I think its easier for the guests to just go get something off the registry anyway ! everyone wins that way!

Re: dear shower guests

the whole idea is to make it easier for my guests. how the hell would my fh's aunt and cousins know what to get me? how would my own mother know what to get me? its insanity that people think that way

this reminds me of something....

a friend of mine gave me a gift for my wedding from Fortunoff (where I had a registry - still do). what I want to know is, WHY would you buy me something as a wedding gift that is not on my registry (she knew I was registered there b/ she asked)

after I got back from the HM, she asked me if I liked the vase and told me she bought herself the same one since she loved it so much. I of course said 'love it and thanks'. but I had already returned it and bought some stuff from my R E G I S T R Y with the store credit

I got some things not on my registry, but I loved what I got. Of course one thing was from my favorite store (Pottery Barn).
Some people hate to buy of the registry, why I don't know.
