Debating on How much for Invites. What R U Paying?

I'm just shocked at the cost of invitations, even the ones that arent all that they cost over $200 for 75. Is it worth the expense, I'm going debating whether to spend $430 for invites that I did really like or $250 for Basic Plain ones that ar basic but classic. How much is everyone else paying for invites. If you are spending more for invitations - where are you cutting back to make up for it - those on a budget?

I had mine custom designed by Lizard Designs and loved them!
With all extras included (rsvp card, reception card, envelopes which she addressed and stamped for me, etc) it cost me approx $700 for 125.

You don't want to know what I paid for mine - but I will tell you that I had an impossible time finding paper that I loved - You can find nice and lesser expensive ones you just have to search - Try lion in the sun - they were good about helping me find amazing invites - I showed them what I was interested in and how much I wanted to spend and then they offered me a ton of suggestions.

we paid $578 for 150 invitations with all the parts and the place cards too. A lot more then what I thought we would be spending.

we paid $375 for 125 invites...which was nice since we budgeted about $500!!!

OMG...thats more then my dress...lol....
I think the paper quality is what makes them more, but Im not big on invites, if I get one that loooks pretty I say oh wow but it goes in the drawer or on the fridge like the rest of them and I dont wanna spend money on them that I could spend elsewhere on something bigger so my budget is $300 but thats more ten I would like to spend, but Im pretty sure Im using the vendor kimberlybride posted about....
She has invites that compare to the $1000 looking ones for MUCH MUCH less and since I dont know a darn thing about paper quality thats good enough for me...
