Re: Deceased Moms

Im glad I am not alone! Im so thankful for my FMIL because she is like a mom to me. Although she is not my mom she is the closest thing I have. (Don't tell my stepmom). She actually had tears in her eyes when I went dress shopping for the first time.

Thanks for all your girls support. Sorry for starting this thread. I was a little emotional last night and I couldn't help myself.

Re: Deceased Moms

I know what you all are going through all too well...I lost my mom almost 9 years ago to cancer, and I never realized how hard this would all be to do without her here. She never even had a chance to meet FH, even though I know without a doubt that she would've loved him.
Even though so much time has passed, it's still hard for me to think of her without breaking down....I am going to have to have super duper water proof make up the day of the wedding

I lost my Dad a year and a half ago on Father's Day weekend no less and planning this wedding had been somewhat heartbreaking. You imagine this person walking you down the isle, giving you away, dancing with you etc.... the fact that he won't be part of my special day , breaks my heart.

Both my FH and I plan to give toasts at the wedding to acknowledge both of our Dads who are not with us today.

Re: Deceased Moms

My mother was alive for part of hte planning, she was there for things like picking my dress and headpiece, but by the time the full swing of planning got into gear, she had fallen and broken her hip. The month before the wedding... she passed away.

Its hard... there is no sugar coating it. I missed her for the wedding planning, the details like the bridesmaid dresses, going over flowers with her, getting her opinion on hair and makeup... thankfully MIL is a doll and helped with some of it, but it wasnt the same.

What does help is knowing that she is still there in spirit in some way. I know my mother wasnt at the wedding, but with my grandmother and two uncles, we still felt like she was there to watch and approve.

A Poem a say offen

In Our Hearts

We thought of you today.
But that is nothing new.
We thought about you yesterday.
And days before that too.
We think of you in silence.
We often speak your name.
Now all we have memories.
And your picture in a frame.
Your memory is our keepsake.
With which we'll never part.
God has you in his keeping.
We have you in our heart.

Re: Deceased Moms

I am truly sorry for all who have lost their mothers . Although my mother is still alive and I was close to her when I was younger she isnt part of the wedding planning process and it is sometimes hard especially with fh mom calling once a week asking how is the wedding planning. My mother has so many health problems that are slowing taking her doctors are surprised she is still here. I would have thought she would have wanted to be part of the process but she doesnt care because she said her life is over already instead of embracing the fact that she is still here and enjoying what she can.
