Has anyone else lost their mom and having a hard time planning the wedding without them and finding yourself wishing they were here to help?

Re: Deceased Moms
I'm sorry :(
My FH's mom passed away 3 years ago and he def. has his moments with the planning that he says how much he misses his mom and how excited she would be. But one thing he always says 'at least she is with me the whole time we are planning'.

Re: Deceased Moms
I lost my mom 7 years ago to cancer when I was 17, a few months after that I lost my grandmother and just this past year I lost my grandmother on my mom's side which felt like loosing my mom all over again. I don't have any sisters and I have an aunt I'm not very close with. I feel very lonely planning my wedding sometimes, like I just don't have that women to lean on and share things with. It's like I know the only other person in my family this is as important too besides myself would be her. Even though its been so long since my mom passed its still so hard especially with planning my wedding, I can't imagine how hard it will be to try on wedding dresses without her, I remember it was so painful trying on prom dresses with my friends and their moms shortly after she passed and my guess is that it will be even harder. I have to just find strength in myself and my very close friends and keep my mom and grandmothers close to my heart always. I hope that you find your strength and know that your mother will always be in your heart and will be there in spirit on your wedding day.

Just wanted to say that reading your posts def makes me appreciate that I have my mother here to plan with me - I am so blessed! A friend of mine lost her mother years back and while she has a great support system she always tells me there is nothing quite like your mom <3 We are here for you girls if you need that extra support!

I couldnt agree more ... Future hubby lost both his mom and dad. I cant, CANT, cant even imagine. He has a big heart and I know in many ways the wedding is breaking his without them here. It too breaks mine ...

Re: Deceased Moms
FH's mom passed away when he was 11 ...... the closest he has to a mother is his Aunt who lives in SI and doesn't ever leave the house, she made such a big deal about our E party and who was sitting with who blah blah blah but then she didn't come. Its pretty sad figuring out the mother son dance. He really has no one so he will probably dance with my mother since that is the closest he has. She passed a long time ago so it doesn't really upset him but I still feel for him

Re: Deceased Moms
I lost my mom 5 years ago, suddenly to a heart attack. I'm the oldest of 5 children - I have 4 younger brothers. Planning is definitely hard without having my mom beside me, giving me her input, seeing her reaction to me trying on wedding dresses. But thankfully, my fiancee is WONDERFUL and has come to all our appointments (except dress shopping). My cousin (my MOH) and my best friends (my BM) are fabulous as well and have been there for me all along the way. It's still not the same, but thankfully, I still have great people to help me along the way, and I am more appreciative of them than they know!!
YES!! I lost my mom when I was 15 to Cancer. It's really hard, expecially because all my friends already got married and their moms were there every second along the way helping them and doing everything with them. I'm thankful that my FMIL has been coming with me to bridal shows and wants to be involved. She reminds me alot like my mom so I'm lucky in that way. Ever since the first time I met her I felt so comfortable with her and can talk to her about anything. :)

I lost my father when I was 15 and my mother when I was 17. It is hard going through this process without them for sure, especially my mother we were so close. We have to take comfort in knowing they're watching us all through this and they'll be there on the big day!

FH's mom passed away in April of 2009. It is not easy and it sucks that I will not have in-laws (FH's dad passed away before I met FH)
Please everyone appreciate your moms and FMILs...

yeap, I'm another bride who's mom will not be physically present I feel her absence now more than ever, the only 2 things that comfort me is that she will be there in spirit 'cause I can feel it and that 3 of my 5 older sisters are being soooo supportive with me, thanks to God and to my mom for giving them to me!

wow, u totally got me tearing right now! wonderful words u said! when my mom passed away, a friend told me the same thing, he said: don't think of ur mom as a loss but as a gain because she's now ur guardian angel and she will be protecting u and guiding u for the rest of ur life

Yes, it hurts. Dress shopping was the hardest. I just kept in mind that she was there with me the whole time in my heart. I also had a little prayer at the ceremony for her and a seat with a red rose just for her because I know she was there. I cried but I wanted to included her.

Re: Deceased Moms
this post made me so emotional. FH's mom passed away 3 months ago, and it hasn't been the same planning since then. They were very close and I know he misses her so much. It's hard to believe she is not here considering that 4 months ago she was going to go dress shopping and asking me what color dress I want her to wear..and now she is gone. There's the small stupid things that remind you of it..like at final meetings the DJ asking what song are we using for the mother-son dance, or telling the florist you will be needing one less corsage, and then there is the huge realization that she really will not be there that day...I know that crushes him.
My heart goes out to all you girls, stay strong...
