What is everyone doing with thank you's? We've received a few guests that have declined and included a check. Do you wait until you send all the official thank you's out or send one right away?
I had this happen with my engagement party.. I sent those thank yous out right away.. I figure.. they did not wait to send a gift, why should they wait for the thank you.. then in the card you can say something like, we are so sorry you could not make it, but thank you for the generous gift.. yadda yadda yadda.. :-)
We received a gift with a decline also and I plan on waiting until we get our thank-you pictures to send all the thank-yous out at one time.

I sent thank yous right away. In fact we received three flatware place settings yesterday and I need to write one for that! I ordered informal notes with my name on them and wrote the thank you much like my shower thank yous. 'Steve and I wanted to thank you'...yadda yadda. There will be just a few of the declines that will get a picture with our 'married' stationery after the wedding.
I sent them out immediately. In our case the people who declined were relatives we never see, so I wasn't so worried about them not getting a picture. We got gifts the day of the wedding from some closer family members that couldn't attend(sent with someone who attended). We waited for the photos to send these out.
We received a number of gifts from prople that could not attend. Im sending them a favor with a thank you note now and a including a line that a photo will follow when we receive them. This way they will know right away that we received their gift.
I have sent thank you's right away. Like, I think Fran mentioned, I want them to know that I received their gift.
