I'm contemplating Jericho Terrace, the Dome Room, but I would love to bring the decor to the room..at this point idk if its worth the extra money bc they are fairly priced, plus I'm sure I can negotiate. I would love to change the chairs (either chair covers or change the chairs all together), table linens, flatware, plates...anyone know a rough estimate how much extra that would run me? Also, any recommended decor specialists? All I know of are W Events bc of my visit at Woodbury CC..they do good work! Also how much would huge centerpieces cost roughly for 20 tables? Havent crossed that bridge yet, and was wondering how much to expect..thanks!

Re: Decor Costs
Why don't you have a tent wedding somewhere if you want to change all of those elements of the decor?!?!
Flatware rentals alone can run you thousands of dollars.
We had very large high centerpieces (don't have my proofs yet but will post when we get them) and 20 tables....I almost had to add an extra table so I asked what it would cost to add an extra CP and I believe it was $375 for one. Florists don't really work that way though....they'll quote you for the entire package (bo-ks, cps, ceremony decor, etc etc)

Re: Decor Costs
try Stylish Events
I am using them for my wedding. They have tons of decor stuff including linens. They are a floral company. I love love love them! If you decide to use them work with Dana.
I am not sure how much you are looking to spend on CPs...high CPs start around 100-150 but can go up in price depending on size and also depending on the type of stand you want to use- candelabras are more expensive than vases.
good luck...HTH!

Re: Decor Costs
What I would stop and ask yourself is do you really love the place or the price? It may be worth it to spend a little more on your venue location so as not to have to change everything.
At the end of the day noone will remember your plates, flatware, chairs or table linens. Trust me I have been to enough weddings to know! What they remember is the food and entertainment ... so really see if in the grand scheme of things its all that important! If you have the budget for it and can splurge, great but really that shouldnt be the most important thing!

Re: Decor Costs
You HAVE to love your RH. We saw 14 places before we found the one that we loved. It's really hard to find something perfect and it's annoying to look but I wouldn't just compromise. We fell in love with a RH in Poughkeepsie but no one would drive that far. We looked at so many on the Island and finally found one that was perfect for us..

I agree on all points! I got married at JT and loved it there, but I could not tell you for the life of me what kind of flatware we had. If it's important to you, I'd probably look for another hall that has more decor options included in the price. The *only* additional decor we had was the tablecloths/runners/napkins. JT's tablecloths are ivory and we wanted everything stark white with apple green overlays and damask runners. It probably cost maybe $500 to purchase everything for 180 guests with 18 tables. HTH!

Re: Decor Costs
Honestly...I love the PRICE! Theres this other reception hall that has all the updated chairs and linens that I want but for a Fri night reception, the cost is $4-5k more..theres negatives and positives on both places..just wish I could combine the 2 to make my dream place..I'm just trying to figure out if going with this place and spending a couple thousand on things to enhance the appearance is worth it, meanwhile still saving $$ at the end of the day..what i mean is should i choose the place thats 4-5k less and spend like 2k on enhancements and save 2gs or just go with the place that has everything but costs 4-5k more...

Re: Decor Costs
This is the THING! I have seen 10 places on the Island and honestly I'm not 'in love' with any of them, and the part that sucks is that I have to stop at Nassau County bc Suffolk is just too far for my guests..at this point it seems like I will have to settle which I HATE and I'm dreading :(...I've looked at alot of the 'popular' spots and its either it has what I'm looking for outside or has what I'm looking for inside..I just cant WIN! Ugh

Re: Decor Costs
what was the other place?
what places have you seen, maybe we can help or suggest places you haven't seen yet.
also what about telling the other place that you want to go with them but they are over budget maybe they will come down on price
ORRRR tell JT that you want to use them but you are not happy with the linens etc and see if they will throw that in or lower the price
remember the price you are quoted is usually never their bottom line, you can alwaysssss negotiate!!!!
also make sure you price out your extras for decor before you book a place, just bc you think its 2k does not mean it will be!

JT doesn't even give the option of using other linens. They do have chair covers, which they threw in for us for free, though. In that case you'd need to get table linens and chair sashes if you wanted.
But honestly to the OP, I think you are truly wasting your time if you're considering renting/purchasing chargers and flatware. Nobody is going to even LOOK at those things, especially if you throw that money into other decor like the centerpieces. Anyway, OP, I'll FM you some details about what I rented/bought.

The enhancements you are talking about will be way more than $2,000 depending on the number of guests you have. We rented chairs, they were $6.50 per chair (which is apparently on the very low side), we had 240 guests thats $1500 right there! Linens were about $60 per table multiply that by how many tables you have (which also includes (cake table and place card table) if you have 20 tables thats another $1200.
Adding the these elements can definitely add to your wedding and create a specific ambiance, and you may want to add these things regardless of the location, but I do not think it will save you money in the long run

Re: Decor Costs
At this point, I'm tired of looking, so I've narrowed it down to Sand Castle or Jericho..Jericho had the best price and I loved how outside looked but inside was just ok to me and idk how I feel about as much as 3 weddings at one time..with JUST the quoted prices both halls gave me, JT is about 2-4 k less i believe for a Fri night reception. SC has what I'm looking for inside, the only thing I would replace would be the outside location, it doesnt have that curb appeal that JT has to me. but their ball room has everything really, updated everything and a cool surprise entrance for bride and groom which is a plus. another thing we liked was they shoot 4hrs of uncut video of the reception which is cool and you get a 5 night stay at their hotel in greece, but for the price of a fri night wedding, i could have a sat night wedding at JT and this is based off ONLY on what they quoted. SC will only go down $5!! smh Im sure JT would go down more. If I chose JT, I'm sorry I will AT LEAST have to change their chair covers. The BM mentioned that by 2012 they should be updated but I cant trust that. He even admitted they were a bit worn due to washing,etc..so now I'm stuck with this dillemma..I also liked that the Dome room had a round Dance flr unlike SC which is big but LOOONG (idk thats just my weird quirk)..

Re: Decor Costs
But ur right, that's why I'm wondering if its worth spending that extra money or just go with the place that has the upgraded things that I'm looking for ORRR go with the cheaper place and just change the chair covers AT LEAST, but is it worth spending about $1200 on chair covers?? Ughhh I just feel in order for me to be happy the room has to have that 'look' I'm going for..I love the lighting the Dome Room has but i dont think that will be enough for the look I'm going for to be complete..

Re: Decor Costs
Are you taking into account taxes and gratuity because SC quotes you with that and that really adds to the price pp. Also you get the raw bar, sushi, and VH included in the price and it has one wedding at a time . If that stuff doesn't matter to you though, just book JT and rent chair covers if they don't upgrade it by then. I think people notice the chair covers. As for linens and plates I don't think you should worry so much. JT has a great reputation and you would have a spectacular wedding there, I've heard nothing but rave reviews. Everyone is looking for different things and as annoying as it is to visit reception halls, if you haven't found what you're looking for, and it doesn't sound like you have, you probably shouldn't just settle. If one RH was perfect for everyone, we would all be booked at the same place.

Re: Decor Costs
Yes the prices I have mentioned are including tax and gratuity..my thing with SC is that its nice and all, and comes with great things in the 'package' but honestly I could do w/o some things if that could make the price go down..I'm just trying to get a great deal overall with my wedding, be it venue, limo, flowers..whatever! But my prob is that I like nice things and my taste can cost me ..I've outweighed the pros and cons with both SC and JT and SC has more pros, I guess it just depends on what matters most to me..another issue I have with SC is that it may just cross the 'stuffy' line for me..I dont want any of my guests feeling like they have to put on this aura bc the place is very elegant and such..I love classy but not too stuffy (idk maybe I'm overthinking things WAYYY too much!) but at this point I feel like I've visited all the places that have been referred to me by either ppl or that Ive read online and also looking at pictures of RH on some websites and I'm not absolutely in love with any of them...thats why its looking like I have to settle..I would take my time to make a decision but honestly time is running bc some pf these places book fast!

If you are looking to get married in July of 2012 time is absolutely not running out. If I were you I would keep looking at places and wait until you fall in love with the a place. You do not want to look back on your wedding day and hate or not love your venue! That is a huge piece of the wedding.

Agreed. We booked our RH a year out almost to the exact day. It was fine! Take your time, there's NO need to rush.
