decorating help!

decorating help!

quick story.......

our apartment (living room area) is a long rectangle shape.....we broke the room into half by making the couches into a L shape and cornering the TV, so now half of the living room is the actual living room with sofa, loveseat, ottoman and TV stand with TV..........

the remaining half is empty. lol. What would you suggest putting in there?? We were going to either put a computer desk there with the computer and a file cabinet (although I would rather put that in the bedroom since we have room for it) but I don't want to have nothing there......

Do you think one of those big picture frame walls would look good? or maybe something else? I thought of doing floating shelves but I don't want to make permanent holes in the wall incase we ever want to re-arrange things?

We don't want to put the couches on separate sides of the room because it just looks odd and if we make the couches anyway but the way we have them, you won't be able to see the TV from certain places.....don't know how to describe it lol.

Ideas??

here are some pics of the couch part (forgot to take pics of the empty space)

you should definitely make a photo wall. put a long runner and keep it open-like.

Re: decorating help!

thinking either a mini china cabinet to display all our fine china, or a big fluffy chair for reading or lounging???

or just leave it empty/ ugh - the empty space is the same size as the couch space. So what you see for the couch is what is empty behind it

My living room is kind of the same set up- i have a L shape sectional and acrosss in the corner is the TV- i am putting a canvas pic above the couch (matching set so 3 panels = 1 pic) and in the empty space i purchased a sofa table from Raymour ( its name is Ambrosia) I plan on putting our wedding pic on the empty wall above the table and i displayed a lenox vase and plate on the table. if i were you i would either do teh same thing or buy a curio or something.

YES! I was thinking of this type of table with either a big mirror ontop and filling the table itself with picture frames, or vases, etc ORRRRR a big wedding pic enlarged and framed of us!!! I think it ties the 'living room' together!!!!

Re: decorating help!

ok - here is the 'empty' spot behind the couches.

Should we fill with a table and big mirror (or blownup/framed pic of us) or leave the computer desk and just put a few pics on the wall?

The comp desk can totally go into our bedroom and I won't want that space in the living room (where the comp desk currently is) empty.

Re: decorating help!

Try going to Peter Andrews. They have really pretty tables and cabinet pieces (I don't know what they are called. You could use the piece as storage and also display a vase or picture frame. They look antique. I have one in my dining room and one in my hallway. They just add some style to the room.

Re: decorating help!

remove the computer desk ASAP!!!!!!get the consol table

you know what you can also do, put the table in the middle of the wall and then in that corner put a tall beautiful vase and fill with dry flowers, birch sticks and such (they sell these in Michaels)
