Decorating the Nursery!

I'm so excited about being pregnant and now I am looking forward to making the baby's room! We definitely do not want to find out the sex beforehand -- how did you Moms out there do the room? Did you pick a neutral color/theme? If so, what was it? Or did you wait until after baby comes to paint, etc. I would love to hear what you all are doing/have done!

Re: Decorating the Nursery!

I waited till the baby was born, so HE/SHE can have a BOY or GIRL room. So now here I am with no room for the baby set up and stuff all over the place !! LOL.

I dont have many ideas set, but I want to do a few 'mural' (sketching of my own, yikes !!) and all boy stuff.... how specific, huh ??

Lets here some other ideas !!

Re: Decorating the Nursery!

A friend of mine is having a girl, but she chose to stay with very neutral colors anyway - ivory/soft sage and soft yellow. Just thinking about those colors makes me feel cozy and serene. I think it works for a boy or a girl.

Also, I think alot of the Winnie the Pooh decor that you find in the stores is gender neutral. You might look into that?

Re: Decorating the Nursery!

My friend who is due in March is waiting to find out if it's a boy or a girl so she is doing moons and stars as a neutral decor for the nursery. I love that idea. You could also do an animal theme or a bug/insect theme. Colors I think green is nice or yellow for either sex.

Re: Decorating the Nursery!

Here is the bedding and mobile I chose for the baby. The bedding is very neutral, I hope you can see the moons and stars print, it's 'ecru on ecru' (I know I'm nuts to pick this but I love it) and the mobile is from North American Bear Company, it's so cute! The plushies are called Flatso's - flatobearius, flatjack (rabbit), flatopotamus, flatofrog. The crib is going to be in our room and the dressers and changing area and all the other fun stuff will be in our second bedroom. We are still renting (hoping to buy in Spring!) so we can't really make a whole nursery for the baby but everything's so cute anyway. Now if the baby would just arrive!!

Another shot of the bedding. This is not our crib though, I got a natural wood crib with a high back.

Re: Decorating the Nursery!

my friend didnt want to know what she was having, and they did their baby room in an off white with a light sage. She did a chair rail molding going half way up the wall, and put a a border with abay animals on top of the molding, with a sage rug. It Loooks GOOD!!!!!! She had a girl, so either way it was perfect.

Re: Decorating the Nursery!

Here is a fun link to play with designing a nursery:
http://disney.go.com/disneybaby/nursery/design/classic/index.html

I am absolutely in love with Classic Pooh. It just makes me feel all warm and fuzzy. My husband seems to think that if we decorate using classic pooh our child will be worse off then if we use primary colors... some strange theory about lack of stimulation I believe heheeh. I think he just doesn't want me to turn on of our very few rooms pastel on him! LOL Anyone else having a disagreement about color schemes?

I am also so in love with Pottery Barn Kids... Heres a picture from Pottery Barn:

Re: Decorating the Nursery!

Thank you all for those beautiful ideas! Elizabeth, your bedding is beautiful!! I can't wait to hear whether you have a or !! I know you can't wait either !! LOL! I'm thinking I might be leaning towards the off white/sage/some kind of green. I'm not a huge yellow fan and I'm having a hard time picturing a whole yellow room. I love the moon & stars theme...but everything is so darn cute I just don't know where to begin!! Good thing I still have a little time!!
