Def. Need help from my Latina Brides!

I decided that I wanted to take FH's last name (who is also Latino), but also keep my own as well, only cause I know it'll make my parents happy So hypenate it is! BUT..............

My question is, normally here in the states, isnt ittraditional to have it MY MADIAN NAME - HIS LAST NAME??

Because I know in most Latin American countries and also where FH grew up, its VERY common to have HUSBANDS LAST NAME, THEN YOUR LAST MADIAN NAME, in that order. I hate to say it, but I actually like that better!!

His last name first-hyphen-my madian last name just flows better, but I dont want people here to think Im weird of get confused......

Any thoughts girls???? Is that even allowed????

on the back of the marriage license, it says you can hyphenate anyway you want, it just has to make sense (meaning you can't hyphenate two random names that have nothing to do w/ you and FH). i say if you like that way best, then do it that way. it's going to be your name for the rest of your life!!!

i feel like such a sellout, i'm doing the complete name change.

I know in Hispanic countries it is the way you say, but the only people i know who do that is if they got married over there and dont change it when they get here.....

you can do it whatever way you want.IMO

I also agree that it is a matter of preference...whatever you like better. But I do think that that is more common in the Latin countries and is nto typically used here. But again it's up to you!!

When you fill out your marriage license you'll be able to choose whichever order you want your name to be in. If you prefer to do it the traditional Latino way go right ahead Might it cauase some confusion...maybe but I wouldn't worry about it too much.

Legally, I'll be changing my name to my FH's last name...which was a big decision for me because I'll be losing my Latino last name and I've had it for 32 years of my life. However, professionally, I'll be hyphenating mine-his, since I've already established a career with mine. Basically doing it the way it's done here.
