Anyone taking a delayed honeymoon? (FH probably won't be able to take vacation days right after the wedding.) Are you taking a close-to-home trip for a weekend? Where are you going? I'm thinking a weekend in the Poconos or Catskills just to get away and relax...

Re: delayed honeymoons
We were soooo busy after the wedding, we werent able to. I have a 4 year old and was writing my thesis and my husband had trouble getting off of work because in the FDNY they give you your vacation when they want to.
So hopefully well do somthing in July when he has off but then again this time, Im due with a baby!!

Re: delayed honeymoons
I am most likely going to take a delayed honeymoon. Our wedding is June 30th so we wouldn't leave for our honeymoon until July....Most of the places we really want to go to are not the best time of year in July (Greek Islands too touristy, Thailand off season, etc.) - so, we decided we'll probably take a cheap caribbean trip for a few days right afterwards and then wait until September and go away. I have a friend who did this and said it was the best!! They had time to wind down after the wedding and then be even more ready to go for their 'official honeymoon' - good luck!!

Re: delayed honeymoons
We're getting married in September and won't be taking our honeymoon until the end of October or beginning of November. FH owns a business and doesn't get slow until then so unfortunately our honeymoon will be delayed.

Re: delayed honeymoons
I am getting married in October, most likely taking our honeymoon in Feb or April (during one of my breaks from work)...so I definitely want to plan a little getaway for the weekend, either upstate or out east somewhere!

Re: delayed honeymoons
We are probably going to do it six months or so after the wedding. He won't have the time off. Maybe we'll get away for a few days right after, somewhere local.

Re: delayed honeymoons
we have a lot going on after the wedding (moving to another state, i am starting a graduate program, and he is expanding his boss' business)...so, needless to say, we don't have time to squeeze a honeymoon in there and thats fine with us, bc i don't thin we would enjoy it as much as we should bc it will be a very stressfull summer for us. we will take one later on-after we lives are stable in NC. i dont see anything wrong with postponing! the actual wedding and getting married is the important part of the process, not the honeymoon. as for a short weekend trip, we aren't sure yet...any ideas? ~lacey

Re: delayed honeymoons
I know so many people who have done it..being a teacher it is very common. If you don't want to get married in the summer, or over a vacation, you have to take a delayed HM. Everyone who I know has done something little that weekend - Martha's Vineyard, Rhode Island, Upstate, etc.

Re: delayed honeymoons
I'm getting married Nov 23. The day after the wedding, we're just going to stay in NYC for a night in a nice hotel.
We're going on our 'real' honeymoon between Christmas and New Years, because FH is an untenured teacher, and can't get off right after our wedding. (The days would be after a vacation - which is a HUGE no-no, apparently.)

Re: delayed honeymoons
I am a teacher and doing my wedding not during a holiday. We are going away for a few days, we wanted to have a quick flight to and from. We chose the Bahamas we are there in about 2 hours. All inclusive. Short and sweet but then planning a 'real' honeymoon for the summer.
