I can empathize from where you are coming from - if it was known that your wedding was that weekend.. they had numerous other weekends that they could have chosen from. I am not saying that the entire month of May is yours or anything like that, but a little bit more consideration would have been nice... sometimes I wonder what people are thinking before they do things...

Im so sorry. I would feel the same way. Did your cousin plan his wedding before yours? If not, why would he plan his wedding so close to yours!!!!! If I were you Id still invite my family friend, Im sure they would love to go.

I can understand being upset but dont dwell on it and let it ruin your planning. It is what it is and cant be changed so I say be upset but quickly move on since it is now beyond your control.

Re: A little upset...
if he's been married so many times why is your family going to his instead of yours? maybe they will re think it when they evaluate the cost of traveling to another to state to see someone get married AGAIN

Re: A little upset...
Awwww Im so sorry!!! I would totally be upset too! Its your family and you want them to be there. I just cant believe that he decided to book his wedding a week before yours. I think its rude and inconsiderate. I know as much as it really hurts... def try not to let this ruin your wedding.
I hate that when it comes to weddings, you realize who really cares about you and wants to be able to there on your special day and who doesnt. I have also found out things about some of my family members that have hurt me.... but you know what? If they dont care- then now I know for future reference... I want people around me who really want to be there.
I would still send out the invites to people on your B-list... they'll show up if they really want to. Yes, its embarrasing to even send them out- but you can say exactly what you told us.... that you have a big family and thought that they were going to come.... end of story.

Re: A little upset...
That really stinks. I would feel the same way. Sometimes people are so selfish. I would never have planned something a week before my cousin's wedding (who we had known was getting married then). If you do want to invite more people, you can always tell the people you originally told you were keeping it small that you've changed your minds and decided you just wanted to make sure you invited everyone you wanted to...
that way they don't know anything about spots opening up and them being a type of backup list. And that way you can still have the amount of guests you were hoping to have.

I am sorry you are going through this!!!!
I know it hurts when it's family (we've all been there). Just keep in mind that there are going to be so many people there for you on your wedding day who truly love you and want to be there for you.

Okay so it has kind of gotten to the point where I am scared to post my feelings on this site because I don't want a fight to erupt but I am a bit upset right now..... If any of you think I am wrong for feeling the way I do please try to understand why I feel this way before jumping down my throat because I soo don't want to fight....
First - I don't blame you - I don't think I will ever post something about my feelings again. I will stick to happy fluffy posts!
Second - I am so sorry you are going through this. I just wanted to say that because you need a hug. Unfortunately, I don't have any advice - just a hug.

You are not wrong with being upset because I think anyone in your situation would! As much as its hurtful you also have to remember that there will be SOOOOOOOOOOOO many other people...family and friends that are there because your marraige is important to them. You still have all those people to support you and celebrate with you!
He should have taken your wedding into consideration when planning his wedding but apparently he didn't. Maybe there is a reason it had to be that weekend ?!?!
I am so sorry your upset but just keep in mind the hundreds of others that are there because they want to be there and will be there to celebrate your special day

Wow, that does stink. I'm sorry that this happened to you...especially because from the way you described it, it sounds shotgun.
And I totally hear you about getting punished for doing the 'right thing'...it's the story of my life. And it BLOWS.

I would feel the same way. I mean, there are so many weekends in a year to choose from. I feel like people purposely do things like this just to be spiteful or they can't stand the thought of someone else getting married before. Whatever the case is though, just keep on planning and focus on the positive things like the people who will be there on your day instead of the ones who won't.

Re: A little upset...
can you put something in your invitation like: 'your presence is our present??'
if it makes you feel any better i have def received an invitation and KNEW i was on the B list- i was not offended at all! i completely understand those things!!! if i were you i would send out the additional invites anyway- you have nothing to lose! i understand the frustration though- i would be upset too! i'm having trouble understanding why your cousin would do that to you knowing about your wedding...

Re: A little upset...
I understand where you are coming from. I come from a very big family as well and having special times in your life come second to others. After awhile you just get used to taking the back seat, which s ucks.
I think its ridiculous that he would even plan on getting married right around your date and that they would rather go to his wedding especially since he has been married multiple times and you cant even recall any of his wives names.
I guess the bright side is that you can invite more friends and people who, like you said, WANT to be at your wedding. Its your day so try not to let your family ruin it! Just think you will be beginning your own family with FH!!
