Re: NWR...need some advice ... ref...my bitc# sister
The parents can try to get a PINS petition through family court... and that can protect them and make sure they have options if she keeps getting into trouble. (PINS= person in need of supervision)... look it up, they may want to try this. I knew some people in high school who were hardly even 'troubled' and their parents got a PINS order on them.

dont do anything. honestly.. u knwo where she is.
callign the cops will just pizz her off.. let her do her thing.
when she comes home beat her. it worked for me.
violence has def made me the awesome person i am today... if i do say so myself.
maybe spend time with her? i knwo youre not her #1 fan.. but maybe she wants your attention??
I TOTALLY AGREE with Barb (although I'm still pissy about her 'fake sonic' post) but yea, having the cops come get her will pisss her off and she'll just do it again.. she's at that rebellious stage where she just wants to leave home and be on her own, she's so close to being a 'legal adult'.. i did that a few times my senior year of HS... I lived at my brothers house.. actually I think I WAS 18 at one point. my mother didn't know where I was until like day 2... but I was pisssed when she tried to take me home.
what I don't agree with his beating her... well you could beat her all you want and SCARE her into staying home, or your parents could take the hugging and crying road when she does decide to come home... seeing a parent cry will take a heavy toll and the scars will last longer then any beating would. knowing you upset your parents to tears usually teaches a better lesson then getting your asss kicked.
but i too think maybe you should try talking to her.. i think she's looking for attention, you're the center right now, with your upcoming wedding and she wants some of the spotlight... AND if you still live at home she might know that things are going to be different when you leave, so she's kinda testing the waters. just take a deep breath, pick up the phone and call her.. tell her you guys need to talk, meet somewhere for dinner, your treat. just tell her that you're sorry for whatever she's going through, and if she needs to talk you're there, your sisters.. dont mention your parents, unless she brings them up. it might make her mad OR happy.. not sure the situation. just be the sister/adult/non-parent she needs.
sorry you're going through this!

I would definitely call the cops.
ETA: I just scrolled up and read the rest of the post I didn't know that you knew where she was. In that case I don't really know if the cops can help, but she still is a minor so they might be able to do something. Maybe just call the station and get advice from them.

I'd call the cops. She's 17 so she is technically a minor.
we know where she is, she's not missing.... what would they do?
you gotta call the cops cuz like everyone says, she's a minor. If you know where she is that doesn't matter. God forbid something happens to her your parents are still at fault.

if you did call the cops, considering your sister is a minor, can your parents get into any trouble for that?
with all these crazy laws i'm curious
The cops might question them as to why they waited so long to call but they won't get in trouble or have cps called on them or anything. 17 is that touchy age. According to NYS law I believe parents are responsible for their children until the age of 21.

someone close to me went through this with their son. He was running away. The police will file a report and refer you to the court to file a PINS. He has a PINS and was put on probation for several years. The court sent him to several facilities, several counselors. And in the end nothing changed. My friend had to take hours off of work to continually go to court and in the end she was never really able to help her son. He's 18 now, no job, and never graduated HS.

hmm... talk to the parents of whoever she's staying with, they might not know that your sister 'ran' away from home. if i knew the situation, i'd bar your sister from staying over until her issues are resolved.
