So i've been having so many issues with my maid of honor who's my friend. She hasnt been interested in the planning of my wedding or supporting me. I started a new job as a special ed teacher in a school district and she didnt even call me to see how my first week went. She doesnt really call me at all even to just say hey. She has so many personal issues that i just dont want to deal with anymore. Ive been trying to be a good friend to her but dont feel she is putting the effort in towards me. She hasnt been there for me for a while and I was finally fed up. So i did the one thing I never thought Id do- I confronted her and gave her a choice she could either step down as my maid of honor and become just a bridesmaid or leave the wedding party. Well she chose to stay in the bridal party but I have a feeling she's gonna bail or be a total pain in my ***. AHh.. .any advice on what to do about her?

Re: Demoted my maid of honor!
Hey there! Sorry to hear of your trouble. Did she exhibit this behavior before you asked her to be your MOH? You don't want to have added stress during the planning of the grandest day of your life, but if you notice that she is continuing to have issues it may be kind of awkward to ask her to completely remove herself at this point. I know it's after the fact, but you should have removed her all together instead of giving her the option.....

Hi, wow, that really stinks.. Congrats on the new job! I hope your first week went well. :) That would really **** if she was going to bail. Hopefully she sees the value in your friendship and wont do that.

I'm sorry you are going thru all this but honestly, you should just have her takin out of the bridal party totally, because she is gunna be nothing but a pain and stubborn towards everything. it will just make your planning easier ! just my opinion!

Re: Demoted my maid of honor!
one of my bridesmaids is like that. When she was engaged i helped with everything. I hardly speak to anymore and the few and far between times that we do talk she only talks about herself. She never asks about anything and its really sad cause not only were we best friends at one time but she sent me and my FH (her cousin) up.

I think you did the right thing!!! I love my MOH she is probably more excited than I am and is always helping me and I think that is how it should be.

Re: Demoted my maid of honor!
So sorry that you have to go through this. But I think it was the right move. And if she is still giving you grief, maybe its just easier to remove her all together (before dresses are ordered, bridal party gifts are bought etc). You don't want her ruining your day. You need people around you who will keep you stress free and truly care about you unselfishly deep down inside.
Hope everything works out
