I have had a terrible toothzche for the past 4 days. I have an appointment at 1:30 today adn I am afraid he is going to tell me i need a root canal

maybe its just a cavity? Do you have all your wisdom teeth?

I had my wisom teeth removed already

so at least you dont have to have them taken out

This happened to me last year. I had a tooth ache for a couple of weeks, but was TERRIFIED to go to the dentist, because I have a FEAR that you wouldn't believe.

I woke up at 2 am one day with a shooting pain in my ear, neck and jaw that was unbelievable - wanted to die. I made an emergency appt. the next day, and lo and behold - root canal. But you know what - the root canal wasn't nearly as bad as the pain - I didn't feel A THING!!!! - Honestly!! They numbed me plenty, gave me some sweet air, and that was that. It really was painless, if that makes you feel any better.

I have to go with Marni on this one...

i have had 2 root canals...and they were nothing!! I usually bring a walkman and count while they are drilling to pass the time...(my dentist is fast...never more than one min!)

its similar to a cavity filling...b/c you get the needle...once you get passed that...nothing

No Root Canal - just a filing that fell out. The dentist said since it was so small, he only had to drill for 2 seconds and asked if I wanted the novicane for that. So I ****ed up the pain (for literally 2 seconds) he drilled and now my mouth is not numb!!!
