Depressed about houses/place to live

UGHH

I am so depressed as I have been looking and looking for affordable places to live and I am just convinced we do not have enough money to do anything.

I want a house SO BAD, but I dont think that with our salaries we can even think about it right now.

As far as apartments go, we have fred. He needs a yeard and he barks a lot so I really dont know what my options are.

Even condos are so overpriced right now.

Can anyone offer advice. I dont know what to do and my parents have made it clear they do not want us here after the wedding (mostly because th dog is driving them nuts).

HELP

That is what I was going to say, look into apartment complexes, most of them take dogs

And don't worry, dogs bark, it should not be a problem

Do you gave a yard.. even a small one? Fred is used to my parents huge backyard and I think he will be highly unhappy without even a little place to roam free.

Well my fellow Maggie Sottero dress girls..... You can always move out of NY-- probably not what you want... ummmmmm FH says if you don't push yourself you will never get what you want- you will have to cut back on a few things if you really want a house, Talk w/ your parents and let them know how much you want a house and find out how long they will let you stay and save save save-- I wish all the best of luck I know how hard it is

I am sorry. I really feel your pain, I am going through the same thing right now. I don't live on LI, so I can't offer you any advice, but I just wanted to let you know that for what it's worth, you are not alone.

Good luck. something will come your way.

I would consider it expcet teachers make
C R AP elsewhere and FH works in the audio visual field so we would have a tough time finding work

no but we do have a big complex with a huge courtyard. I was also afraid of this but my dog gets plenty of exercise and you can always take him back to your mom's house if he needs to run some more! I am sure he will be fine!!

one thing though, I know you love your dog but they are very adaptable. as long as he goes out for walks and such, he will be fine. in an apt. your needs and fh's needs and future goals should outweigh the dog's need to roam free I think.

with the yard criteria, you are really narrowing the field, which will just make it more difficult to find something affordable. most places with yard access are more $$, which is just less every month in your savings for Fred to run around. you have to weigh that.

Yea you are right, but I am being selfish as well, I would much rather just let him out for a few mintues than treck in snow to walk him during the winter time. My friends girlfriends rents a whole house for 1500 so it is an option, but I wish we werent blowing all our savings on the wedding and could get even a tiny house of our own.

You could look for homes further out east. We can't afford anything in Nassau or western Suffolk, so we are moving out near Riverhead. The commute will s-uck, but at least we will have a nice home.

Good luck!

Yea I already live exit 60 off the LIE, and I drive 40 mintues to and from work.....Rocky point has some good deals.. but that is a HIKE for the both of us and would cost us in gas a small fortune.

We are buying at exit 69 (EEK) - Manorville. The advantage over Rocky Point is that I can get right on the LIE - less stop and go traffic (so a slightly better commute and less gas used). Hopefully gas prices will drop before we move in

if it is right off the LIE then I would consider it, what is the average price there?

I feel the same way...we went looking at Open Houses for a while but stopped because we know that there is no chance in hell...except winning the lotto that we are buying a house.

Not sure where we are going to live

I hear you girls, I'm in the same boat. Everything is just so expensive, I think we're going to have to get a condo. My FH has his heart set on a house, but realistically, I just don't think its going to happen unless we move all the way out to Suffolk. FH works in Brooklyn, so that would be a hike.

*sigh*
