depressed - long...
Hi girls..
I have been MIA for a bit .. I am starting a new job on Monday so I have been busy preparing for that...
BUT...
about 8 weeks ago my grandma was diagnosed with a VERY rare cancer. She was doing well up until the last 2 weeks...I went to see her Sunday and she is suffering. I have been extremely sick to my stomach over this since Sunday. Last time I saw her which was July 4th she looked fine, but now she is not eating, dehydrated and looks like an ill cancer patient. She has lost so much weight and it kills me to see her this way. She has a big surgery this Thursday that will hopefully help her and prolong her survival, but if not then we don't know how long she will be with us.
It is so crazy -- 8weeks or so ago was mothers day which is when we went together to look at wedding dresses...she was there with me when I bought it, too. I am happy that I was able to share that moment with her. I am the oldest grandchild - first to get married - and come from a big old school italian family.
I am so worried and scared. I never thought there would be a possibility she wouldn't be here for our wedding.
I am a physician assistant and have seen many of my patients sick and ill - when she was diagnosed with this type of cancer I knew it was not 100% curable and the prognosis was poor. I remember learning about this cancer in school - how only 2-3 ppl out of 100,000 are diagnosed with this a year...and my grandma is one of them. Even though I am a PA and have a lot of medical knowledge I am having such a hard time processing that my grandma is so ill and suffering.
I just needed to vent. Please say a prayer for my grandma. Thank you so much.
xoxo - Cristina
