Yes, I went through a point in my life when I was very unhappy. I avoided doing anything about it and ended up having severe depression. It's best to go and talk to somebody like a psychiatrist before it gets worse. Even though it was really hard for me and I really didn't want to go to one, it helped a lot to talk to somebody.

Re: Depression?
I am a therapist so I know a lot about depression. DO NOT STAY IN THE HOUSE. My patients who do not leave their house only fall deeper and deeper into it. You might need to take baby steps at first. But be sure to structure your day. Write out the night before what you plan on doing. Make sure that you sleep regularly...don't stay awake all night and sleep during the day.
Finally, make sure you increase the number of pleasant events you experience each day. Physiologically, you cannot be depressed and happy at the same time. So do things that make you happy like eating an ice cream sundae, laughing with friends, playing with your pets.

Re: Depression?
I've definitely been through this too. There were days that if someone didn't come to get me or if I didn't have to go to work, I would have never gotten out of bed.
I make progress for a while, go to therapy and then get tired of it and think I can handle it on my own, but it only takes a couple months until I am back where I started and nothing makes me happy.
Lately, I've been really anxious - up all night wondering what's going to go wrong - which is in turn making me depressed. Between wedding planning, thinking about changing my career, redoing our house, the state of the world and some health issues my family is having, it's all gotten to be too much. My doc put me on a very low dose of Xanax last week and it seems to be helping. Even just knowing I have it there if I need it helps a little.
Definitely go see someone, even if it's your regular doc to tell them your symptoms and see what they recommend.
You can get through this, just don't try to do it alone!!

Re: Depression?
OMG I didn expect the response I got. I got so many FM's and you know what. It helped me realize that so many of us have real issues going on.
For me I didnt sleep last night. I sat up til 5 this morning thinking. I realize that I dont have a true support system beyond my hubby and family. People have 'friends' I did at one point until I fell in love, had a baby and graduated from college. 2 good friend backed away as I started making these accomplishments...one was blatant when I announced I was going back to school. I dont understand why? I dont let people in too easy and I trusted them becasue we grew up together.
Now at a happiest itme in my lif eI feel the most alone.
I will make an appointment and see someone since ia cant take the rollercoaster of emotions..and poor DH He has been thru so much, dealing with my health problems alreadya nd here comes another.
Thanks ladies. I genuinely thank you. I was scared to post because we usually have such positive topics but I neded to get it out.

Re: Depression?
I think it's normal to go through highs and lows in life. It happens to me every few months and I think most people can relate to how you're feeling. We all have struggles and hardships, and I think one of the WORST feelings is not having that support system like you said. I had the exact same thing happen to me when I moved to Massachusetts. I was away from my family for the first time, I knew no one but JT and although he was great to me and supported me through everything, it does not replace a really good network of friends and family who are there for you. Everyone serves us a different purpose in life and I feel the more people you include in your daily life, the more you will fee fulfilled. Feel better!

Re: Depression?
I went though something similar a while back, in the weeks after 9/11 and again a few months later. There are also online screening tests you can take to help you hone in on what's bothering you. It turned out that what I was dealing with was mild, luckily. It would have been really hard for me to find a therapist- I am just stubborn about asking for help, usually to my own detriment.
