Re: dermatologist or facials
I'm a licensed aesthetician, so I do favor to spa settings more, but recently the surge of medi-spas opening is in great numbers. It really depends upon your skin, if you have any conditions, like severe acne, I would recommend going to a dermatologist. If it's just for relaxation and purifying of the skin, and a few treatments like anti-aging etc., then I think regular facials are beneficial.

I think it depends on your end goal. If you have problem skin, I would recommend seeing a dermatologist. If not a facial is a nice treat for your skin - ESPECIALLY DURING THE WINTER MTHS!

I would recommend the dermatologist, at least initially. Facials are something you can always do, after you get a green light from the MD.

I find that the last two dermatologists that I have had in the last two years stink because they see you for about five minutes and pop a pimple or two give you a sample of some medicine and tell you to come back.
With a facial they cleanse your entire face and remove a lot of blackheads. But over the summer I got a facial and ever since that facial my skin got really bad. Before that I used to swear by facials. I guess it all depends on your skin type and the type of person you have working on your skin.

I would recommend just using Pro Active. I swear by it. I went to a dermatologist back in October and she put me on antibiotics for a month and my skin got a little better but not much. Then I had a facial and my skin was ok, then I went back to the dermatologist and she wanted to put me on the antibiotics for another month but I really didn't feel like being on them anymore. Then a few of my friends said that I should try ProActive and I have not had one pimple since I start in the beginning of December. It really is soo good. I haven’t had skin this good in years. It sounds cheesy but the infomercials about it are true. I think it works better than anything else.

See, I bought that too and it didn't help me out It's so fustrating to go from a pimple or two once in a while to having messed up complexion. Especially when your about to get married soon.

Really? I can't believe it didn't work? Everyone I know who uses it loves it. Did you use the wash, toner, and lotion 2 times a day? I am addicted to using it and never forget to use it, I even do the masks they give you.

Thanks for all your help girls. I have been seeing a dermatologist but was told today (by someone who works in a spa) that facials will work better so I thought maybe I was going the wrong route. I think once things clear up a bit I'll go for facials and maybe that will help with scars and stuff. Thanks again!

I don't know what kind of skin problem you are worried about, but if it's acne, I would go to a dermatologist, and see what he/she says. I've had acne since I was 11, and I'm totally fed up at 26, so I'm going on a low dose of Accutane until the wedding. I've only taken it since Saturday, and my face is totally clear! I'm afraid to go for a facial now and screw things up! Here is my derm if you are interested!

I tried this too, and it's not for everyone. I think it's hit or miss, because everyone's skin is different. At least they have a $ back guarantee!
