When I first started looking at dresses I called around to ask about different dresses and was told that such and such store didn't have the one I wanted by designer A but they had a near exact dress by designer B.
I thought it was odd but went and tried the dress - which was similar but not 'near exact' by any means. I can't even recall the designer but the dress I was looking for was Demetrios or something.
So, I was watching the knot fashion show on Oxygen a little bit agao (after the Real Wedding Marathon) and saw a great Lazaro dress that I loved.
Funny thing is it's so close to the Maggie I plan to order. Maggie is way cheaper too. The Lazaro has a sweep train while the Maggie has a chapel train. The Lazaro is also a button or (or zippered back) while the Maggie has a corset lace up back.
yes they do. And, it's not always the case that the 'high end' designers have the better quality gown. I had a Mori Lee. Demetrios made almost the same gown, but it was much poorer quality than my Mori Lee

Of course they do. The fashion world is highly competitive and anything that's considered a 'trend' gets made by everyone...the ruffled skirt on that dress is very similar to the Halle Berry dress at the Golden Globes...which means ruffles is in for Spring, which means designers have it all over their collections. I wouldn't be surprised if other variations of this dress come out.

The funny thing is the Lazro is from the 2003 collection, Maggie 2004 & Halle's dress (don't know who made it) was just on the red carpet this month.

They all work from the same 'elements' and tend to be inspired by the same things (or copy each other)...most of my friends are in the Fashion world (and so is my mom), a lot of designers 'wait' out certain collections because of what's out there...not surprising to see similar styles for a few years around the same season (Spring this time).
I love the Lazaro, but if the Maggie's cheaper, then go for it!
Lilqtny - that dress is STUNNING! Wow. I hope you find a reasonable facsimile because it really is beautiful!
thank you I am thinking I may have to just bite the bullet and work lots of overtime to get the original I don't think a copy will do, I just love it too much.

liqtny, I saw your other post. I really hope you find a way to get the dress, because it seems as if you really love it. This seems like it's THE ONE. Don't forget the advice in that thread, hey if all else fails you can just beg! Just playing.

The Lazaro and Maggie looks similar but to me the Lazaro looks more like a sheath, whereas ths Maggie is cut is A-line.

Yes! I've noticed many copies!! But no designer is consistent in who they copy.
I even read a law suit online once from one designer that was suing another over copying several wedding gown styles.
In this case I actually like the Maggie better but I can tell the differences.

i think eve of milady sued impression bridals for copying their designs and i think they may have won.

They do look very similar, the fabric however looks different.
