When I first started looking at dresses I called around to ask about different dresses and was told that such and such store didn't have the one I wanted by designer A but they had a near exact dress by designer B.
I thought it was odd but went and tried the dress - which was similar but not 'near exact' by any means. I can't even recall the designer but the dress I was looking for was Demetrios or something.
So, I was watching the knot fashion show on Oxygen a little bit agao (after the Real Wedding Marathon) and saw a great Lazaro dress that I loved.
Funny thing is it's so close to the Maggie I plan to order. Maggie is way cheaper too. The Lazaro has a sweep train while the Maggie has a chapel train. The Lazaro is also a button or (or zippered back) while the Maggie has a corset lace up back.

Re: Designers really do copy each other.........
what's funny is, the copy usually looks and fits better than the original in my opinion! LOL (at least, that was my opinion when trying stuff on!)

They do look very similar, the fabric however looks different.
Nope, both skirts are organza. The Lazaro is shown in ivory and the Maggie is shown in white.
Without seeing the Lazaro model standing, I can't tell how close they are - not an exact copy though since Lazaro could sue.

Probably since the designer copying the dress got to see it on a lot of people and make the changes to have the dress flow better/fit a little differently. I think that's why AB Schwartz (or whatever his name is) copies all the designer gowns from the red carpet but makes them different enough where he won't get sued.

Posted by marc_rai The Lazaro and Maggie looks similar but to me the Lazaro looks more like a sheath, whereas ths Maggie is cut is A-line.
You are probably right. I am not going with Lazaro but my curious side want's to see the back anyway.

IMO I like the Maggie because of the corset back, I am also partial since my dress is a Maggie

Not sure if it's just the photography, but I think the Lazaro looks nicer. The fabric looks more luxurious.

This is the fabric snob coming out in me. Although they both are organza, organza is made out of different fabrics, i.e. silk organza, poly-organza etc. I'm guessing the Lazaro is silk.

Lazaro
Ivory silk satin organza gown, strapless hand beaded and embroidered bodice, horizontal waistline, ruffle tiered A-line skirt, sweep train.
Maggie One-piece a-line gown with a lace strapless bodice and soft organza ruffles that cascade to the hem of the gown. The bodice is ornamented with Swarovski crystals, pearls, sequins, seed beads and glass beads. - it has a chapel train

What did you end up getting - I found your dream dress posted on-sale (used) for $1200. Not sure if it went yet, or if you got a dress, but here's the link: http://www.domusinteriors.com/ Quite honestly, I would not be opposed to buying a used dress if it is thousands less and has only been wore once!
