Designing your own invites

Designing your own invites

I found a website that will do letterpress invites if you design them yourself.
Does anyone know if designing invites is difficult? Any favorite design programs? Any suggestions on where to get appropriate flower clip art to add?

Thanks!

Re: Designing your own invites

I designed my own. I used powerpoint. I had mine printed at a shop - I would check with the vendor you want to use for suggestions. Some programs work better than others (and apparently powerpoint is one that does NOT translate well).

For pictures, I had seen a tip to use a font instead of clip art. fonts enlarge without getting pixelized and grainy. My invites have a snowflake, and I used a 'picture font' that I downloaded for free at dafont.com. I will use a large version of the snowflake on some of my diy stuff for the ceremony and reception.

dafont had lots of flower fonts if I remember correctly.

HTH!

I designed and printed my own invites. If you want to have them commercially printed, you'll find that your best bet is to design them in Adobe Illustrator. If you don't have/know that program, if you save your work as a PDF, a printer will have a much easier time working with it.

Good luck!!!

Re: Designing your own invites

I've been on an invitation hunt all month and fell in love with letterpress invitations by william arthur, but I'm not excited about spending so much money on invites. The prices at this site are amazing but I don't know anyone who has used them before.

Reaves Engraving

They are very generous with samples and are cheap.
