Hey, My MOH is not being helpful at all, and my mother who has never planned a shower in her life has been waiting for a list from my MOH for over a month, and its not happening. My mom is looking for a place to have my shower, but she does NOT want a typical restaurant, she wants something different and cute. I gave her the Inn at Great Neck, Waterzooi in Garden City and Caffe on the Green in Bayside..any other recommendations would b e amazing...cooking classes..tea houses..anything unsusual!!!
thanks!

That stinks that you have to be involved. Like you don't have enough to worry about?
My shower was held in our Village Hall. It wasn't your typical 'Hall'. It was a beautiful room with a fireplace and French doors facing acres of wooded land filed with deer. My mother and sister did all the cooking.
Call me old fashion but what ever happened to showers at home? That is where I did all of my friends showers. The best part is that you don't have to be out be a certain time and aren't rushed to open your gifts.

Both of my showers were at a house. They were done nicely. My MIL threw a shower and made all the food- she had a salad theme and tea sandwiches.
If that's not a possibility, what about a winery? That may be too far out from Great Neck area though.

I've heard that they host cooking classes at this Viking Culinary Arts Center in Garden City. Here's the schedule of classes--Viking. They really sound like a lot of fun.
I'm so sorry though that your MOH is dropping the ball on this. You've got enough to worry about without having to plan your own bridal shower.
ETA: If you decide to take a trip into NYC and are interested in doing a tea luncheon, you should check out Inn at Irving . The Lady Mendl's Tea Salon is used frequently for bridal showers. Hope this helps!

I always thought it would be fun to go to one of those pottery painting places. Take all the ladies, give them a color scheme and a choice of dish, mug, saucer, bowl, etc., and when you're done, you have a whole set of dishes! :o)

Oh! Also, a fondue restaurant could be fun, though I've heard they can be pricey!

There's a great fondue place in NYC (again, not in the Great Neck area but just so you have some options ). It's called Dip and I've heard nothing but good things about it. The prices don't look too crazy, but they are definitely Manhattan prices

Just sent you FM regarding a cooking institute in Garden City. It is a lot of fun!
