Desperately in need of Engagement Party Help!

Due to many scheduling conflicts...we are planning an engagement party in three weeks. We have selected the place (the harrison house in glen cove) and it is set for a friday evening cocktail party (approx70 people to attend). I haven't been to many engagement parties and have NO IDEA what needs to be done in terms of decorating, music, and events for the evening...We want to keep it simple ...Please HELP!!!!!!!!!!

The place should take care of everything. The only thing you should have to do is show up. Speak with the manager there. Good luck.

Re: Desperately in need of Engagement Party Help!

It's a cocktail party...not many events are needed just mingling, food and drink. The hall provdes most of that. You amy want some nice background music....see if the hall will pipe in anything or if you have to take care of it.

You may want to have a special cake. See what the hall provides.

Also, you may want to consider favors. I only had a small dinner party in a room in a restaurant and I had pretty candles wrapped in tull with a ribbon with our names and date on it.

I grabbed my two best friends and took a Saturday to make chocolate lollipops as favors for my engagement party....cheap and fun!

The Harison House is a very upscale place to hold an e-party. I would do centerpieces of some kind on the tables and give a small favor (like chocolate).

favors (we did chocolate), an engagement cake, and maybe centerpieces for the tables (nothing expensive, candles will do) other than that just show up and have a couple of the family's suv's with you to haul away the gifts.
