Destination wedding????

Destination wedding????

I am so frustrated with planning a wedding I am going to the travel agent right now to talk about a destination wedding! Maybe on a beach somewere, or I dont know... Vegas sounds fun.

That way I could have the 25 or 30 people who I really want to attend anyway, and would have half of the stress!

Has anyone done this or know someone who has??

One of my good friends did a destination wedding to Hawaii this past March. I saw the pictures, which were beautiful. I was just sad that due to limited vacation time this year (due to my wedding) I was not able to attend.

I am leaving tomorrow morning for the Bahamas- one of my bestfriends is getting married there on Saturday.
There are about 50 people going there.
Her twin sister got marriend about 3 yreas ago in a caeritng hall in Vegas 50 people went to that. It was a great wedding.

In the Bahamas most of the arrangements were taken care of by the hotel.

If you do decide to do a destination wedding I would take a trip a@ least a year before and check out the property and see where you would like to hold the ceremony etc.

I'll tell you- she is totally relaxed about everything where i am STRESSINg and still have a ways too go!

Our friends got married in Jamaica last September and it was beautiful. The hotel handled most of the arrangements, but they had a buffet dinner catered in because otherwise we would have just eaten at the hotel buffet, which we had eaten at every night the week we were there. But let me tell you honestly from a guests perspective... We all had an awesome time, but it was a bit much to ask of people. We had to use a week of vacation time and it cost us almost $3000 to be at their wedding. There were packages for 7,5 and 2 nights, but the money we would have spent for 2 nights was only a couple hundred less than going for the week.

I had my destination wedding planned but my mother nixed the isea.
The US virgin Islands or Puerto Rico are really easy because they are US territories.
Most resorts or hotels have soemthing on their websites about weddings. They have wedding corrdinators that can help with paperwork and stuff. Sandals resorts have free wedings if you honeymoon there. They allow your guests in for a day. That way you can spend your honeymoon in a different place from your guests.

We originally looked into getting married in Key West. There are quite a few places there that offer wedding packages. You can even charter a schooner for your entire wedding.

check out The Caves in Jamaica. We went there for a vacation, but they do a lot of destination weddings. You can rent the whole hotel because it only holds about 30 people. They have a website. Its www.islandoutpost.com then click on the caves.

Thank you all so much!!
I just got back and the travel agent gave me tons of info, so I am going to check it all out tonight while FH is at work and talk to him about it tomorrw. The only thing I am alittle worried about is that I am not sure if all of his immediate family would be able to afford it. i will let you know how it goes! Thanks again!!
