I was married in September, and the best man gave us a generous check as a gift. Now best man is getting married in Florida, and my husband and I are going to be spending about $1000 on airfare and hotel alone because they are making it a four-day affair. My question to you girls is, what is the etiquette for gift-giving when you are spending a ton on just getting to the wedding? We have a baby on the way and are trying so hard not to spend, but I don't want to appear cheap. Any advice?

I think you still should still give a nice gift-that said, it should be what you can afford. Just because I give someone a certain amount at their wedding doesn't mean I expect to get that back. Everyone's circumstances are different and if you are good friends with your BM then he will know that whatever you give as a gift, combined with all that you are spending to get there, is generous and appropriate for your circumstances.
