DH and I cannot agree on names!!

We have a boys name picked out... either Jake Thomas or Jake Andrew, girls names on the other hand are a different story!!

The only one we 'semi' agree on is Samantha. I really like Isabella, and we'd call her Bella. He likes Bella, but not Isabella.

I need help with girls names!!!!

Funny....hubby and I agreed that if it is a girl, her name will be Isabella. But we can't agree on a boys name!

I am thankful we are having a girl because that is the name we agreed on. I am not sharing it though until she is born. I have to keep something a surprise. We couldn't agree on boy names. I do like Samantha. It reminds of the book I just finished Sams Letters to Jennifer. Great book if you haven't read it yet. Other girl names I like are Julieanna, Catherine, Sara, Ashley, Nicole, Julia. HTH

Both Samantha and Isabella are beautiful names....I have a friend whose daughter is just Bella and another friend whose daughter is Madeline. I love Madeline.

I found that we could NOT agree on boy names because we were having a girl - we just didn't know it. And for Molly Eva, well that just happened one day. I think you know the right name when it hits you.

I'm partial to Mary

If we have a girl it will be either Evelyn Marie or Evelyn Mary. Evelyn is his mom's name and Mary is obviously mine and my moms (and grandmother's). And maybe nickname her Eva. I even like Eva-Marie. I also like Mairead or Moira.

For a boy probably Kevin William.

Re: DH and I cannot agree on names!!

When I was preggo with Luke, we could not agree on a girl's name but thank God we had a boy because we decided Luke for a boy early on. This time, we still werent in agreement where we said 'That's it.' It took alot of back and forth and mulling over names. Actually, we decided early on Matthew for a boy but although I know it's always been a popular name, I cant tell you how many boys I've heard being named Matthew since I found out I was preggo. Finally, we changed it to the middle name. With the girl's name, I loved and wanted Tara. DH didnt at first because it reminded him of someone he once sort of knew (not an ex or anything), which wasnt a good enough reason for me to abandon the name. He gave into me though and now that she's here, he agrees that the name is HERS and doesnt associate it anymore with another person. And he picked her middle name (with me having veto power of course LOL) but I love that he picked a Gaelic name, Mairead.

So we went from not knowing how we'd ever agree to finding the PERFECT name (at least I think so)

Isabella is very very pretty but MEGA MEGA popular, it depends on if that matters to you or not. It does to me but that's just me.

What type of names do you like? Traditional names? Modern names? Different or unique names? If you give us an idea, maybe we can help with names...

Keep plugging away, he or she certainly wont go unnamed

We had decided on a girls name right away, Madison Elizabeth, but could not agree on a boys name. I loved Connor and Jack. Of course we found out we are havinga boy. It took a few weeks and we finally agreed upon Jake Dylan.

I love the girl name Angelina. My grandmother who I was very close with was Angie so if I ever have a girl that is the name I would love to give her. Boys names are tougher, my FH family has this unplanned tradition of naming the kids 'J's, Jason, Joseph, Janice. So if we ever have a boy I would need help with J names. Any suggestions? At first a J girl name we liked was Jocelyn but then I really want an Angie.

question: how do you pronounce Mairead? Very pretty name, just curious.

BTW, my friend's sister's name is Isabella, and she is 18 yrs old. Now, 18 yrs ago, we all thought it was so old fashioned and now it is super popular! She is named after their grandmother.

I like Samantha much better than Isabella! I've never been a fan of that name at all. It looks like I am in the minority, though!

Ok, Stacy, how many times do I have to say this? Your baby will be named RACHEL! (and that's because I am putting my five bucks down that it's a girl!)

Funny you asked because that's one of my reasons for not naming a child that since I hear people mis-prouncing it, and it irks me (but it's not their fault, it's not a common name here).

It's pronouced 'Ma-RAID' (short A sound on the first syllable, and the emphasis is on the second syllable). I've heard it as 'MA-reed' or 'Ma-REED' and I don't think I want to keep constantly correcting people.

It's Gaelic for Margaret.

Re: DH and I cannot agree on names!!

Mairead is Tara's middle name DH liked it for a first name but I knew I would get alot of questions (and later on she would always have to be spelling and pronouncing her name for people)...but it's a BEAUTIFUL NAME IMO RE: Picking names for kids - Again, does that matter to you when it comes to naming your child? For me, I had a difficult last name my whole life till I got married, always spelling, pronouncing it for people, correcting them endlessly, ignoring it and letting them say it wrong, answering all the annoying 'What kind of name is that??' questions....so I personally prefer an easier name.
