DH and I finally got an apartment!!
greetings from down under!
after being married over a month we finally got somewhere to live. i just arrived here last week and after living with his parents for a week (enough, trust me) we got a place quickly. i am in love with it, but the only bad points are we need to supply the fridge (we have a used one for free), buy a washer (comes with a dryer) and it has no a/c. apparently a/c is a 'thing' here. you install it but you cant take it with you (they cost $1000). in window ones arent that common and we have to get special permission. summer is pretty hot here, but we have a few months to save before summer comes. we just may be able to get a used a/c unit, or get the permission for the in window a/c. the place is brick so it will be cool. also no heating, but no places in australia come with heating (1 month winters anyone?), you just use plug in heaters. you can take all appliances with you except the a/c.
the good points- two floors, video intercom phone, right next to a super market and mall down the block (i cant drive over here), close to train to take to jobs, roomy, tile floors, new carpet upstairs, brand new everything, never been lived in, and a balcony porch.
it is two floors, with the kitchen and living room downstairs and two bedrooms (with closets (again not in every apartment) in each room) upstairs. bathroom with tub and a linen closet upstairs also.
can you tell i am super excited?
finally a place to use and put all my shower gifts!
