and I would LOVE to throw him a big surprise 30th however we are in the process of purchasing a new home and need to save every penny for our closing date.
He does not want a party being we need to save money. Can anyone make any suggestions on how I can make his 30th special without spending a lot of money?
Please help, his birthday is next month and I have no idea what to do
TIA!

Re: DH is turning 30...
For my FH's 30th, I set up a bar special in the city, where the guests could come and pay $35 per head (his parents ended up footing the entire bill anyway but, that's another story). I've had friends who've done that for their boyfriends/girlfriends. It's nice, it's just kind of an organized way and a reason to go out. You figure also, if you are going out in NYC you can easily spend that much money on appetizers and alcohol.

This is what most of my friends and I do too! The only caveat - last year my friend had to guarentee a certain number of people that would be coming and paying the $ and when they didn't show she had to foot the rest of the bill. Not all places are that way I don't think though. Good luck! He will love whatever you plan, I am sure!

We had my FH's at Mad River, we've been to one at the Town Tavern as well.
