DH Lost His Wedding Band Last Night

DH Lost His Wedding Band Last Night

I am soooo upset!!! He is a paramedic and had said to me that he prob wouldn't want to wear it on his hand at work between gloves and seeing patients and constantly washing his hands. So I bought him a beautiful chain as a wedding present so he could wear it around his neck at work.

So last night, for whatever reason, he wore his ring on his finger and left it on a sink when he was washing his hands. I know he's done that once before but realized it a minute later and ran back. So he was at LIJ - which isn't even his hospital and left it there. He didn't realize it until this morning when he came home. He said he didn't really notice that it wasn't on his hand because he's used to wearing it on his chain. So he ran back out of the house to go to LIJ and called them like two blks later and actually got the nurse in ER who he worked with last night and she checked with everyone but of course it's nowhere. I am so upset. I feel like a new ring is not going to feel the same because it is not from our wedding. Who's loses their ring after 4 months? Happy Chanukah to me

im sorry sorry to hear of that...
just remember..as long as DH is not lost..its ok

my fw lost her e-ring at Costco (of all things). we were paying at register when she notice it was gone. she started freaking out. i was still calm as a dove placing grocery's in the cart. i simply ask her...backup and retrace your steps... she wanted to go out and look in the aisles... next question, what did you just put away.. move a box over and there ist was.. in the minute it took to resolve..her heart was beating like a heart attack. i almost lost her to an car accident and realized materials things arent the same if you dont have that person around...

the ring can be replaced but DH cant... sorry to tell a story but i can understand the meaning behind the ring

I know what you mean - I worry about DH every time he goes to work. It just sucks to know that someone took it when it means nothing to them and everything to us!! It's engraved!! Unless they got married on Aug 1st - *** are they going to need it for!!!

dont feel bad i think he really was making an extra effort to wear it. i have left my engagement behind on the sink at my job several times thank god i trust my co workers but i do have customer that come in and it was risky to leave it behind. i know its more special to have the one that he was given the day of your wedding but i think that a ring is only a symbol your love is strong no matter what rings he wears or if he wears one at all. i would get him another one and have it blessed by your rabbi it will become as important as the first one in time. im so sorry this had to happen especially during the holidays

I feel for you. Try not to get all crazy. My DH lost his ring about 2 months after we were married. He also left it on a sink and a restaurant. We got it back. Then he lost it again as it fell out of his pocket (don't know why it was in his pocket) I found it on our driveway. The next time (oh yeah again), he was playing football at the beach and it flew off his finger and he didn't know it. It ended up in the surf and I found it again. I guess I have radar for the ring. Finally, the last time he lost it was in a limo going home from an office function (I was with him) and he came home and realized it was gone. We were kind of lit so who knows what really happened to it.

That was the last we saw of the gold and platinum wedding ring$$$$. I took him to The Karat shop and bought him a simple gold band. Cheap and he hasn't lost it yet and it's been 7 years. I told him that if he loses this ring I will have it tattooed on his finger.

His original ring was too much ring for him. Too heavy and it was too big even though we had it sized. I guess he has no knuckles!

My DH lost his on Sunday! Only a little after 2 months!!!! I was so upset on Sunday night- but I feel better now. He has no idea what happened to it - total mystery. He went to the Jets game and my guess is that it flew off without him knowing during a touchdown celebration or something. I think our plan is to buy a new one and have it blessed by our officiant.

I feel your pain...I went through all the same emotions that it would not be the same since it was not the one I gave him during the ceremony. But hearing my co-workers stories of rings going down sinks and being left in pockets to never be seen again, I guess it is a pretty common thing to happen.

I would get a new one and make him wear it on the chain

Sorry to hear that this happened, but funny that it happened at LIJ. My mom use to work there shortly after her and my dad were married. One day she noticed her ring was gone. She had no idea what happened to it until she looked at an X-ray she was developing and saw all the gold streaks it had in it. She actually dissolved it, and how she has no clue! The good news is that my parents are still happily married 35 years later, so apparently this has no impact on the future of the marriage!

Re: DH Lost His Wedding Band Last Night

I was on a cruise in August, walking down the stairs on one of the lower decks, and all of a sudden, I was hit in the head with a platinum wedding band! 3 seconds later, this guy comes flying down the stairs, SWEATING and practically tackles me to grab his ring back... his wife was 4 steps behind him, but as soon as she was close enough, she started beating him with her purse!!!
She was yelling 'it's our friggen HONEYMOON and you can't even keep the ring on?!? you piece of sh!t! I shoulda listened to my mother!'
I felt so bad for the poor guy! FH (boyfriend at the time) just stared me down with sheer terror reflecting in his eyes...

Re: DH Lost His Wedding Band Last Night

We're going to go get a new one today. I spoke to insurance this morning to see if it was covered under homeowner's and it's not so that kind of sucks...
It's just annoying because money is extra tight because of the holidays and we didn't plan on spending money on a new ring now instead of presents!

Re: DH Lost His Wedding Band Last Night

Just a heads up that you can insure them under a personal article policy(attach it to yours if you have one for your ring) and if lost, you can get it replaced for the full value. The cost for the year is worth it especially if it happens again....Which Im sure it wont!

Re: DH Lost His Wedding Band Last Night

That really does stink...I guess guys usually aren't used to wearing jewelry so they probably play with it, take it on and off, etc... I'm sure he feels bad and it was a complete accident so try not to be too angry or upset.

The money is frustrating but what can you do? At least yours isn't lost because a new engagement ring would cost a LOT more:) good luck!!
