Re: DH wants to move
Well we are kinda talking about it. We just got our tax bill for the year and it went up AGAIN! I would love to but he is on the fence. He brought it up though.
How do I get my IM to work again. I cant find the log in icon. I think DH was messing around with it.

Re: DH wants to move
My sister lives in Asburn and i would move down there in a minute if i could be away from my family and friends. They have amazing houses and all these businesses are popping up along the main stretch there. He works for Ringlin Brothers (the circus) and she works for AOL. They love it (only downfall is being away from people). They come up twice and year and we have a sisters weekend once a year down there....Virginia is amazing.
And my grandma lives in Va. Beach. I LOVE IT THERE. Me and DH want to retire there....

Re: DH wants to move
we have relatives in Williamsburg and friends in Virginia Beach...he is a teacher and she is going back to school to teach and subbing right now...she gets to pick her assignments online every night!!! Housing is affordable if you know where to look...apparently some real estate companies specialize in the more expensive homes and lead you to believe that affordable homes don't exist (this is the problem they ran into when they went to visit---FYI, they got an apt right away and are looking to buy a home in the next few months)

Re: DH wants to move
Virginia is beautiful! Here's the rundown: Fairfax is the most 'long island' like. Lots of traffic - and housing prices are getting up there, but taxes are lower.
Loudoun/Prince William - Still Northern VA, a little less expensive, very 'up and coming'
Fredricksburg/Stafford Area - A little more rural, but being built up A LOT - still fairly inexpensive.
Shanendoah Valley - do you like cows? Very nice, cheap, but very southern.
Richmond area - beautiful. Lots to do/shopping/etc. Less traffic, less expensive, but definetly the south.
Williamsburg - beautiful area - not sure on prices.
VA Beach - biggest 'city' in Virginia. Mild weather, still not too expensive, i don't think (unless you're right on the water of course). Lots to do. I don't know tons about it - but I know it's really nice.
Now, when I say southern i don't mean it in a bad way, just that a lot of hobbies/lifestyles are much more different than in on LI/Northern Virginia areas.
Good luck with your decision - and if you end up moving to the Northern VA area - look for me in a few years
ETA Charlottesville - I love it there! Lots to do - but it's kind of the only big town for about an hour each way. I think it's a bit more on the expensive side though...
Those are the parts of VA I know most about - there are others, but I don't know anything about them. I hear there's a lot of farms

Re: DH wants to move
My friend and her DH just bought the most gorgeous house in history for $275K in Chesapeake.
We're hoping to visit them soon, I'll let you know what we think.
