DH's christmas party...

its tonight and there are no spouses/family allowed :((((( its just the employee. I'm sitting home all alone, which is bad and good in a way cause I have a paper due tomorrow! lol.. it just sux that they are mad cheap!!!

Do your FH/DH have a christmas party? are they allowed to bring someone?

I worked at a few places and I was never allowed to bring anyone. This year my boss is taking us to a lounge in the city and we cant bring anyone either. It will be too expensive to bring spouses. I wouldn't get upset about it since you couldn't go anyways since you have a paper due... Just take advantage of it so you can work on your paper.

that's weird that no guests are invited.Where I used to work, spouses and boyfriends were ALWAYS included in our Christmas Parties. I think that's rude not to invite them. hmmm.

I'm not sure what FH's work does. I doubt they even have Christmas Parties (either that or FH just doesn't attend). lol. I'll have to ask him. But like i said before - I don't think that's normal be so cheap as to ONLY invite employees.

Most companies that I have worked for do not let you bring your spouse. Mine is on Sunday and I wish DH could come!

I'm sure DH is wishing you were there

Re: DH's christmas party...

DH's job is like that, actually his was tonight also. Last year I cared, but for whatever reason this year I don't care so much. I had to work late anyway today so it wasn't a big deal. Sounds like its a bunch of old ppl getting drunk/making fools of themselves dancing anyway, not missing too much.

My DH's party was supposed to be at Tao but they just cancelled it today. He works for a bank, so I can't believe they even were going to have it there in the first place! His parties have never included significant others either... there are just too many people.

All the companies I've worked for haven't allowed spouse's or significant others to the Holiday party. I think that went out the door a LONG time ago.

I've never been allowed to attend DH's holiday party but it's during work hours. I heard that the rule is if the holiday party is on a Friday or Saturday evening, guests should be allowed. Week nights or week days, then it's OK to do employees only.

A lot of companies are cancelling these kinds of parties. I think because they can cut spending on it.. but also.. they figure that the workers that want to go out.. will by themselves anyway.

Re: DH's christmas party...

I am going to dh's holiday party this friday at CLM. They always have guests included but i guess that is why the hardly ever get raises or never get a bonus. My work holiday party is by department and usually a luncheon and one big campus wide one which is more networking event held on campus.

Re: DH's christmas party...

the thing that bugs me is that he works for a bank and MINIMUM everyone is supposed to get a 3-4% raise at the end of the year.... his boss says that since the economy is so bad and banks are tanking there will be no raise this year.

HELLO but you could have a party @ russo's on the bay?? I think my husband would rather have the raise than a party!!

My co. parties never included spouses. I wouldn't be surprised if ours is cancelled this year - it is always held in mid jan. because we are so involved during dec., but they might just cancel it now ... not sure.

Re: DH's christmas party...

DH just told me this morning that they got the invite for their Christmas party last night, and the party is on Friday! Talk about no notice! He has to find out if spouses are invited, but even if they are, I doubt I will go since the other guys he works with either aren't going at all, or aren't bringing their spouses.

The only thing that stinks is that Friday night was gonna be our 'date night' and now we have to postpone til next week!

I don't think he will be invited to my job's Holiday party, either... he wasn't last year, but maybe this year it'll be different.
