I've only been engaged for about 2 months and tonight I accidentally hit my ring on the table and I think the diamond might be loose!! I'm not definitely sure, but when I tried to put my finger on it, I believe it moved slightly and when I put it up to my ear I can hear a slight rattling sound. This MIGHT be how it has been all along and I can't see any dents or scratches.
What should I do? I am very nervous because the diamond was my grandmother's that she left me when she passed away and it's irreplaceable, however the ring is insured.
Do you think it's loose or just my imagination? Should I bring it to my jeweler this weekend to have them take a look and try to tighten it?
Thoughts? Thanks!

Re: Diamond Loose
don't take the chance, especially since the diamond is your grandmothers. I would not wear it until the jewler fixes it.

Re: Diamond Loose
Bring it to a Jewler right away. You don't want to risk loosing it. It may have been that way all along but now that you are aware- bring it back asap!
Better safe the sorry

Re: Diamond Loose
Thanks ladies!! I appreciate all your feedback. I didn't wear the ring to work today and I will do the same tomorrow. I should have some time on Saturday to take it to the jeweler. I work in the city too and I'm ALWAYS nervous about someone bumping into it on the subway, train or just walking down the street, LOL.
I feel much better now, thanks again! :)

Re: Diamond Loose
I am constantly hitting it on my desk at work since it's such a raised setting. I felt mine was a little loose and immediately took it off and put it in a little compartment in my wallet (since I was at work and didn't have the box) and took it to the jeweler after work. He fixed it so it's extremely sturdy and cleaned it so it was sparkly like new! Just go get it fixed, especially since the stone is not just of monetary value, but also sentimental value.

Re: Diamond Loose
Definitely take it off and get it fixed before you wear it again. I had this happen, I brought it to Gennaro Jewelers and they fixed it on the spot in front of me. They said since I had a delicate 4-prong setting that it might get loose again and suggested I get a 6-prong that would be more secure... did it right in front of my eyes, didn't have to leave it overnight or anything. I thought that might be good for you since the stone has such sentimental value, they take great care to make sure you know where your stone is at all times.
