So there is this homeless guy who sleeps in my parking lot where I park for work. He is about my age 24, and every morning he gets up to go to work at this 'work for hire' place next door. I feel so bad, bc he is not strung out on drugs or alcohol. He actually seems really nice.
So I bought him a sleeping bag from teh thrift store and brought him so food. Also, found out where there was a shelter for him. He was very apprective and nice.
Girls, its the holiday season, and we all need a little help now and then, so when you see someone in need, try to help them out.

Christine that is such a nice thing to do!! Your such a good person!! Hopefully you lifted this guy's spirits and gave him the push to go to that shelter and sleep somewhere safe. Everyone should take a cue from you and give back to the people who really need it. We all freak out about money and our situations but we need to remember that there are people out there with bigger problems than our own....

Re: Did a good deed
that is soo sweet of you!! I wouldn't mind doing anything like that and in the school at work we give coats and food for the holidays. Back in my country i remember we would actually got to the more poor neighborhoods with our school to visit children and we would give them gifts for the holidays.

That's great, Christine!!
Yeah, I've been kind of worried about money the last couple of days, but I really need to put everything in perspective.

Yea when I get stressed I do try to remember that there are people out there with way worse situations.
I just felt particularly bad for this guy, he seems to be making an effort to try to get work, he never begs for money and I just saw this look of sadness in his eyes. So I am trying to help him out if I can, right now I am trying to get him a case manager to help with housing assistance.

I don't know about CT, but on Long Island and in NYC Catholic Charities has a lot of free programs and people who help people in Emergency situations. You may also want to try United Way.

OMG your like mother freakin theresa. THat's such a sweet thing to do for someone.
Whenever homeless people ask me for money I always give them a buck or two. I figure if its for drugs $2 isnt gonna get them ANYTHING and if its for food, it will, so I might as well. In the long haul, two bucks isnt too much to take that risk and give.

Well I am definitely no mother theresa....most homeless people I don't give $$ too bc like u said they use it for drugs, but I can tell this guy is totally straight, never strung out on drugs or something.

Christine that was so nice of you. At my school they are taking donations of food/$ for Thanksgiving and I know they will do it again at Christmas time. It makes me happy to see the kids lugging in cans of food that they can barely carry.

that is such a sweet thing that you did! This world seriously needs more people like you in it! I'm sure he really appreciated it & was glad to have met such a nice person who made his day a little brighter. Sometimes we all need a little help, you're absolutely right.
