as much as i think a planner would help and get me deals on stuff, i feel like we dont need one because we have so much time to plan. but i really think i want a day of coordinator, someone the day of the wedding who will take care of things so i wont be stressed that table 9 is missing a place setting and stuff like that. after looking into it tho, a doc is like, a grand, and a planner is obviously more but they do more work, so i'm not sure. whats everyone else doing? i feel like if between paying a planner and the deals they get we break even, why not? but if any of you have personal experiences that would help, i'd greatly appreciate it. tia

i definitely saw no need for one... i had everything so organized as it was and i trusted my vendors. i made arrangements with friends for doing little things like celaning up the church after we left, transporting things to the hall, etc. before hand.

also, having a DOC is not always necessary as vendors have been there and done that... they know what to do and should be doing it. they are helpful however if you are having a very large wedding guest-wise or have something unusual about your wedding that you need someone else to coordinate.

JMO...
