Did anybody see 'A Wedding Story' today?

It was just on. I noticed after the first episode of it they put 'In Memory' and a picture of the bride was there. I wanted to know if she was sick or something. I didn't get to watch the whole episode and was just wondering if anyone knew what happened.

Re: Did anybody see 'A Wedding Story' today?

I was watching it but I missed the end. That's so sad. She was sick. She had colon cancer and then she was in remission for a while and then it came back. It spread to her lungs and her ovaries - she had to have a hysterectomy. It's so sad. It was nice that she was able to enjoy her wedding day and be so happy.

Re: Did anybody see 'A Wedding Story' today?

I watched that one a thousand times -- it was a LI couple too. I didn't realize she had passed away. Apparently from reading the TLC web site Leslie passed away July 20th last year. So sad -- but there's a nice note from her husband on the TLC web site under Couple Updates.

So sad They were married at Window's on the Lake. On the testimonials part of their site, there is a letter from them with a few pictures.

I saw that one too. It was very sad. Apparently she was sick for a very long time and recently died. I think they were from Ronkonkama.

Makes all of us realize how important every single day is. I hope her husband and family are doing better. I am sure this has just been the worst year for them.

Re: Did anybody see 'A Wedding Story' today?

heres the story..it broke my heart. my god, we are lucky for everyday. let's pray for th husband who must be devasted beyond words.

How's Married Life?
Leslie and Doug

Leslie and Doug have one of the most inspiring love stories of all time. Leslie has been battling cancer for the past two years now and has never given up hope in herself or in love. When Doug learned that his ex-girlfriend Leslie was sick with cancer, he did not hesitate for a moment to get back in touch with her. He soon fell back in love with her and discovered that she was always his one true love. Leslie and Doug have been through more in their few short years together than many couples endure in a lifetime, and yet their love for one another has never faltered.

Update
Leslie passed away on Friday, July 20, 2001, from colon cancer. Leslie loved life and lived it to its fullest. She was the most courageous women I've ever met. She fought this terrible disease with such fortitude and bravery. I was honored and proud to be her husband. She will be dearly missed. We had a once in a lifetime love affair, and as much as I loved her, she loved me back twice as much. I was a blessed and lucky man to have the privilege to marry Leslie.

As sick as Leslie was, we did manage to do some traveling: Texas for a friend's wedding, California to visit her sister, and in March, we visited friends in Montreal we had met through A Wedding Story. Leslie's life was a 'quality' life up until the end, and that was her greatest attribute.

Leslie was like a second mother to her three nephews and one niece. Always making sure to go trick-or-treating with them every year.

She loved children and would often baby-sit for friends and family.

She loved animals as well. We welcomed Timothy, our cat, to the family soon after returning from our honeymoon.

Doug

Re: Did anybody see 'A Wedding Story' today?

I went to www.TLC.com and read the story earlier today when I first saw this post. It is truly a very sad story. I am just glad to hear that they were able to marry even though the story had a horrible ending - some time together is better than none. It makes you think about what you have and how lucky you are to have it.
