Did anyone block more than one hotel?

Did anyone block more than one hotel?

Just wondering if this is a good idea. I'm thinking about doing it, but one is more expensive than the other..is this fair if rooms start to run out?

Yes, I blocked three hotels.

I blocked rooms at the Red Roof Inn in Westbury and the Wingate Inn Garden City. I wanted people to have options, but I wanted to make sure everyone was close to each other to make it easier on everyone.

I figured that people who wanted to make plans early would benefit, and I can't worry about those who put it off until the last minute.

I have seen that done. One expensive and one less expensive. I think that is considerate if one hotel is a lot of money esp.

Re: Did anyone block more than one hotel?

Personally, I'm only booking one. Over the summer my FSIL got married & booked about 5, (the plus to this was several price ranges to choose from), but in the end we kicked ourselves for not staying where the wedding party was. My FH is an army brat, so everyone at my FSIL wedding was from out of town (including the couple) & everyone just kept ending up at that hotel(before & after RD & wedding, also breakfast day of & day after). This wedding was in Illinois, so all the other hotels were just across the highway, but I defintly would have prefered to stay there. I really enjoyed the feel of everyone be together at the hotel & not just at the wedding, so I am booking one hotel in hopes that everyone who will be staying at a hotel will stay at the same one. I know it limits them on price options, but we are going to provide transportation from the hotel to & from the wedding so it won't be neccessary to rent a car(the hotel has free shuttle service from the airport). We are also going to host a private breakfast buffet in the hotel the morning after for everyone who stays there(& of course, any out of towns guests who fly in the day before the wedding will be invited to the RD). When I send out my STDs I will include all this information. I also figure if someone really wants to stay at a cheaper hotel they'll have plenty of time to find one since I'm sending our STDs in January(our wedding is in October). It really is a personal choice, but those are my reasons for reserving one hotel.

Just an FYI I am going tommorrow to finalize with the hotel but was quoted $119 a night which I think is middle of the ground as far hotel prices & I was told they will block 10 rooms & when those are filled they will block 10 more & keep doing that untill 30 days before the wedding. I'll have final details tommorrow, so if anyone is interest I could post full details tommorrow.

I also booked the Wingate and Red Roof. Wanted to give options to everyone.
