Did anyone cancel the bathroom attendant?

Did anyone cancel the bathroom attendant?

Flowerfield has a bathroom attendent. I am a little uneasy about this I personally do not like when I go to an event and there is a attendant in the bathroom. I feel like I have to tip her or somethingDoes anyone else feel this way? Thanks for all your opinions in advance

Do you think I can cancel this service?

it is the same as having a bowl on the bar. You feel the need to tip. i am not having one.

I wouldn't cancel, just tip her before hand and ask her to put her little basket away and to not accept tips.

I don't remember if my hall has one...anyone know about North Ritz???

I think the above solution is great...

I am not going to have any bathroom attendant. It is nice but then they are just standing there waiting for a tip.

i wouldn't have someone standing there at all times, but i would require someone to check in periodically to make sure everything is clean and there...

Not sure if my hall has one, but I agree with everyone else I would not like someone standing there shaking down every guest when they go in to use the facilities to 'shake down' themselves!

I don't think the North Ritz has an attendant... ALthough I never asked them! I am pretty sure they don't have one because I know they don't have the baskets.

They definitely dont have baskets - not sure about the attendant though - what would they need her for then - just to hand you a towel??

Yeah, I don't like them, but mine has it.
I don't want to cancel it, (don't know if I can) b/c that's her job.
I don't want her to lose work for the night.
She will be tipped by us though, so hopefully my guests will know that & not feel weird about not tipping.

Do you tip at the beginning though or at the end?

We looked at several places and many of them had teh bathroom attendent, we decided that we would cancel her, I know that sounds harsh, but personally I do not like going places where I have to tip for a roll of paper..I personally just dont like it..but yet I know people who love it because they feel as if they are being pampered, in cases like that..you can tip her for your guests ahead of time and she can do her job and have already been paid by you!

I never thought of cancelling it but now that you guys are posting about it - I agree. I am going to make baskets anyway so guests should have everything they need. I also get weirded out with someone standing in the bathroom - we were at a wedding 2 weeks ago and I was having some stomach issues so I was back and forth to the bathroom a few times and I felt like they were staring at me because I was back and forth so much!

Do all halls have this? I always feel obligated to tip a bathroom attendant, but I really hate it. They always give me a napkin before I can grab my own, and it's like, okay I could have done that myself.

I have been to weddings with and without attendants. YOU definately need someone in there!!! Not just opinion here but fact. Without one I saw the mother of the bride literally have no soap or paper towels to wash her hands...how embarrassing. I also witnessed a stuffed up toilet over flow into the hall, no attendant around to mop up. We had to wait 15 minutes for a waiter to come and mop before we could get in without breaking our necks!!!
Best thing to do is tip her up front. The classiest thing I ever saw was at a wedding in Nassau, no tip basket, a little sign that said all gratuities were taken care of by host. The lady handed us paper towels and had a basket with lotions, mints, sprays and nail polish for my run!!
Its nice when its done classy.

Crazy? No!! Just asking for opinions. I don't think if you don't have an attendent makes you crazy!!

Re: Did anyone cancel the bathroom attendant?

Well, at my hall, if they have one, there is another room near mine, so guests from that wedding might be using that bathroom also. If that couple doesn't cover the tip ahead of time if I did it, then that would be pretty pointless.
