Did anyone else...

Order their wedding dress in a size smaller than they actually are?

NO!!! I would be too nervous... I'd rather it be big on me than too tight! Plus if it's huge on me, it'll make me feel 100% better about myself

oh. Too late! But I ordered only one size down! I told fh that it doesn't matter, because if i am the size I am now, I am not going to the wedding!

nope, they ordered it a size bigger. You never know. It is cheaper to take it in, then to add material.

Sunny, I'm sure you'll be fine... what bridal salon did you go to? I'm surprised that they did that for you....

i'm sure you'll be fine! there is usually enough material in the seams to add one size. it's the beading and detail that sometimes causes a problem.

I went to the bridal suite in Bay shore- they made me sign for it and advised against it.
But, I know I can do it!! Positive thinking!

I ordered the size that I tried on i the store, it fit perfectly, so I can not gain a pound before the wedding, I can only lose weight.

I did it when I got married. I ordered a size smaller to force me to loose weight. The salon was also aganist it (I practically had to beg) and made me sign that I authorized them to do it.

It worked for me, I have faith that you'll do it.

I was going to do that, but my dress was being discontinued so I didn't want to take any chances.

I ordered it in the sample size, which was just a teeny bit tight, but fit pretty good. By the time I get fitted, I'm hoping they'll have to take it in quite a bit

Re: Did anyone else...

I have not actually ordered my dress yet. My wedding is not until next April so I am going to wait a few months and hopefully by then I will have lost some weight and I can order a smaller size. I would be too afraid to order a smaller size not knowing if I wll actually fit into it. That would be too stressful for me!

Re: Did anyone else...

How many sizes smaller is it reasonable to have a dress altered? I'm afraid if I order my dress now and I lose enough weight the alterations won't come out as good. I'd still rather order a larger size. I figure if you can always take it in, but if it's too small, you're really in trouble!

sunny...I got my dress at BS in Bay Shore...and I mentioned something about it...and they said no right away...

on one hand...YOU MUST LOSE WEIGHT NOW!!!
on the other hand...I didn't stress about losing weight...and was close to my heaviest ever at the wedding...but didn't really care much...

you'll be fine...just keep the weight you have to be in the back of your mind...
