I didn't feel guilty because, #1, everyone registers, #2, if they don't want to buy anything that you registered for that is expensive, then they shouldn't, #3, you register for what you like not what everyone thinks they should buy...

I felt guilty at first...but that didnt last long. If they dont buy it then I get it discounted later! So we wound up for some expensive things anyway

Nope!!!!
You should definitely have a variety of price ranges on your registry.
THe worst that can happen is that you don't get the items.
Don't feel guilty.......it only happens once, girl!

we felt it was just our 'wish list' so we had fun with it. but we made sure we had a wide price range. also it's good to have some more exspensive items for the people who want to get you something nice and they buy you and your FH a group gift -- like co-workers for example.

we figured anything we didn't get and still wanted after the wedding we'd get the discount on too

That's exactly what my FH and I think.........and did!

I started really feeling guilty about registering for HIgh end cookware from William Sonoma until my FH Aunt remended me that you should look at your registry as a WISH LIST! Put down everything you wish you can get and don't feel bad about it. Sometimes family members and friends get together to purchase some of the larger gifts jointly. Go in with the mindset that you may not get everything you 'Wish for' and if you do you will be pleasantly surprised!!

Re: Did anyone else feel guilty registering...

I didn't register for our wedding because I am not having a bridal shower. I made it very clear to my MOH that I have been living with FH for a very long time and a bridal shower at this point would strike me as greedy - especially since we have just about everything that we NEED (want is a different story but... )

I do remember when I was registering for my first child - I couldn't bring myself to put anything on the registry that was over $50. I felt guilty and greedy. My sisters took me back to the store the next day and explained that SOMETIMES people may want to go on in an item or may want to splurge. They registered me for 23 pages of stuff - crib, dresser, glider rocker, cradle... EVERYTHING.

PS - I got EVERYTHING off my registry at my shower. There wasn't so much as a burp rag left!
