Did anyone else get really swollen............

.....feet and hands? My face is also really puffy. And whenever I see someone I haven't seen in a while, they always feel the need to point that out to me as if I didn't already know. Someone told me to watch my salt but I haven't been eating much salt.

Sue-

I haven't had too many problems with swelling, but I did when I came to LI the other weekend...it honestly took me a good week to get it out of my system.

To be honest, you would be surprised on how many regular foods that you eat probably has quite a bit of salt. I know one typically is sauce if you buy it from the store. Then anything that you buy (pasta, mac & cheese, instant potatoes and so on) also has a lot of salt. The best advice I can give, as I do it myself, is just checking the nutrition info.

A couple of things that I have found to help:

Walking, lots of walking. It helps with circulation.

Sitting with your legs elevated for atleast an hour a day. I even was sleeping with my feet elevated that one week and it worked wonders!

Pineapple...I eat the canned stuff and it really helps flush out the system. Watermelon will also do the same.

Water, water, and more water! To be honest, I will even drink a cup of coffee to help flush my body of salt.

I hope that helps! If I think of anything else I will let you know!

Did you tell your OB that you are having swelling issues? The reason I ask is because of the kidney issues that you had?!?

Thanks Nancy. I go to the dr on Monday. I am going to tell them. It wasn't like that at my last appointment 2 weeks ago. I am very swollen now though.
Hopefully I will be able to get this swelling down somehow. You say canned pineapples?
I know canned goods is always high in sodium.I'm trying to drink lots of water all the time. I try and do a lot of walking too but I feel like that just makes my feet worse.

Did you try any of what I suggested? Is it better? I believe you can also drink pineapple juice...I can't unless it has some coconut rum in it!

Walking will hurt, but it really does help to keep moving and get the circulation moving. Even if you can move them while laying with your feet up, like doing leg raises or leg circles!
