A woman in my office told me that once a girl gets to a certain age that she should cut her hair shorter. Well short. I said I want my hair very long for my wedding. She said that its not so suitable for my line of business no less of someone of my age and I am 25. Has anyone heard of this?

I think that as long as your hair is neat...what is the big deal?

Whoops, I didn't mean to say that short hair in and of itself de-sexualizes a woman. It's just that very often women will cut their hair, along with dressing more frumpy, and letting themselves go. Being a wife and mother shouldn't be a license to join the Frump Farm. That, all together, de-sexualizes a woman from her husband's point of view, and also damages her own self esteem.

one of the principals in my district is probably about 45 years old with very very long hair- the nastiest hair i've seen in a long time. its all gross, damaged, & partly gray. looks ridiculous. every single time i see her i want to tell her to chop it all off! she would look so much more professional & attractive with short hair!!

That's the thing...as long as it's healthy and well-kept, it shouldn't matter. I keep mine as neat as possible (it's also very thick) and healthy!

that's definitely a corporate america mentality!!! as long as the hair is kept neat and not in their eyes when i'm talking to them, or they're talking to clients - i don't care how the staff people wear their hair!!! i will tell you - every single female partner that i know at my firm (and there aren't many to begin with) all have hair no longer than shoulder-length.
