Accordingly to my SIL she said you're supposed to get the man a gift for getting engaged. I know she got her Husband a really expensive watch....is anyone else doing that?

I didn't know you were supposed to buy him a gift!!!!! however i am throwing him a huge 30th suprise b-day party this weekend and got it front row tickets for a concert on the 21st. His b-day made me broke!!!!!

It's not necessary to buy him a gift, but I just figured since we aren't doing wedding presents it would be nice if I could spoil him a little

Umm... I said YES! Isnt that gift enough??
We went out and I bought us a set of rings that we'd been wanting. We're huge Nightmare before Christmas fans and there is a collectors set of 'wedding rings' that come in a neat box and one says 'I'd like to join you by your side' and the other says 'Where we can gaze into the stars'
which is something we do... we lay around and look at the stars. So i bought those, the man's ring is his, but with his job he cant even wear a watch so it just sits in the box. But i know he loves it. We won't be using them as our wedding bands or anything, so i guess it was sort of like an engagement present...
