It's actually a little funny to me, but I'm freaking out over it. We went to the intial meeting last night at the church...there are ten couples and two married church couples....We went with Fh;s cousin and her fiance that are getting married in Dec. At first it was nice, but we were getting a weird vibe from one of the married couples, they seemed awkward and didint want to be there.....So they say they are splitting us up into groups...OF COURSE we get this couple and Fh's cousin gets the funny OTHER couple...So We get past being seperated( we meet at the couples hosue here on out) ...Now on the phone they had told us it would be on Friday nights , now this couple we have said no they prefer Sunday nights from 8:30-9:30-10:00...ummmmmm isint that kind of late on a Sunday night? And they were not that nice to us, they kinda threw us this piece of paper and the woman shook my hand, FH puts his hand out and she turns away...they tell us they have only been married 7 years and they are much older...say very early 60's? And sorry that they have a Condo and this is a big group so we have have to 'squish in' ....UGGHH
I dont know why Im stressing but I'am! I'm having a mild panic attack over spending every Sunday night for a Month with these people!
Someone calm me down...( LOL!)

Re: Did anyone HATE pre-cana? (kinda long)
I would call up your church and tell them that these people switched the day. Tell them that your only availability is Fri, which you signed up for. Keep us posted

i would call the church as well and speak to your priest and ask him if you can possibly join the other group because you need fridays because of work constraints. i did the long saturday precana i highly recommend it its a long day but it goes pretty fast and then your done you only have to go once

my church had the same arrangement, i didn't care for it. so i called the arch diocese and they gave us the names of a couple of churches that do it all in one day. So FI and i did it one saturday in june, from 8:00 am - 4:00 pm, we had fun, and spots were boring, but just happey its allllllllll done!!!

I would call the church and if they don't resolve it see if you can do the one day thing. I hated pre-cana, but it was one day and that was it so it wasn't too bad. If I had to go back I probably wouldn't. The couple we had was also very old and both had been previously married (each with 5 kids) - it was ridiculus!!!

Re: Did anyone HATE pre-cana? (kinda long)
We did pre-cana through St. Mary's in East Islip and it was 7 weeks!!! It was the worst experience. The couple we had fought with each other constantly and there was one couple that were such brown nosers and had a response to every thing. I am so glad it's over. Sorry you are having such a bad experience, but I think it's something you just have to grin in bare if you are going to get married in a Catholic church.
I feel your pain!!

I agree- pre-cana can be awesome with the right couple. My parents used to do it and my dad is really funny. They also served great food

Re: Did anyone HATE pre-cana? (kinda long)
Here is a little side story- I would deff try to get the couple switched. We have to go through Pre-Cana down in Florida where we live, and this lady we worked with (that goes to our church) has been asking my FH when they are going to be our pre-cana couple.... Long story short- we went to party once and her husband was hitting on me and kept asking me to dance with him! I felt really uncomfortable... he even said 'well, this is how we keep things interesting in our marriage'. I later found out that they are 'swingers'...
My thought is, you are going to have to talk about some personal stuff with these people, and you have to feel comfortable with meeting with them- it should be a positive experience where you learn something about yourselves- I would tell the priest that you would really like it switched since not only they changed the meeting days, but that they didn't make you feel welcome/comfortable.
