I watching the news and they were talking about a bride and groom heading for the reception or ceremony and the limo or car lost their brakes and hit a tree. They are okay. But, is it one of our brides?

I know!! I just saw that on the news. I live right over there and was right in the area that it happened @ this afternoon and saw nothing. I wonder what time it was and what limo company. Thank God no one was hurt. The car was wrecked though, it was a 1945 caddy i think.

Re: Did anyone hear about the bride in a Car Accident
Hi,
Im a GROOM to be and use this board along with my fiance from time to time. I was wondering if this accident was posted and what happened because I SAW IT!!!!!
I was heading over to Powell Ave in Bethpage to hit a few stores over there and upon hitting the top of the exit ramp for Powell Ave S off Rt. 135, I saw an old Rolls Royce off the road about 45 yards in the woods, and two women in wedding dresses stumbling out of the woods all disheveled. A few people already stopped and were calling in the police on their cells so I kept going on to Powell Ave where I saw a cop and flashed my headlights to get his attention. He pulled over and I told him what happened and in ten minutes, all of the NPD and BFD were on scene.
From what I can tell, its pretty clear than the Rolls lost its brakes coming off the highway and went into the woods.
I must say, I couldnt help but think about how the wedding for these folks were ruined. I hope they somehow continued on once the accident was over and they had a wonderful time.
This comes at a really weird time for ME, because I've been shopping for limos all week and just left a limo company Im considering when I saw this. Talk about ironic!
But this accident should make you aware a little something about these specialty cars. For the most part they LOOK nice, but many may NOT up to snuff when it comes to reliability. Im sure most, if not all of the limo companies will challenge this statement, but Ive seen at least 20 'specialty' cars this past week and if you add it up, its easy to see that these cars can be somewhat 'out of shape'. Face it...they are old, its hard to find parts for these Rolls and they arent easy to work on. Many of them have new paint and refurbished interiors, but are running on orignial, unrestored engines and chassis parts over 50 years old. This is NOT to say that the limo companies are operating dangerous cars....they are NOT. These are good people running these businesses and they do their best. My fiance and I are going to get a specialty car and we will feel totally safe! But the specialty cars are what they are. Very old, very exotic cars used at least once per week all year long. 'The miles add up' so to say.
So be careful when booking your limos..ASK the limo company how they maintain these cars and what they will do if there is a breakdown.
And best of luck to everyone!

OMG!!! How sad!! I'm glad everyone was ok!! But HOLY CRAP thats is the most horrific thing to experience, especially on your wedding day.. that poor couple.
I know first hand what it's like to be in a major accident, it's VERY scarey!!! Some lady blasted me and I flipped in my SUV, I had to get cut out of my windshield, very scarey!.. I thank god I'm alive!!
My heart goes out to them!!

Rich, I agree, thats partly the reason I was so picky with booking a limo vendor! I used one that I know was totally reliable and up to par! I looked at some places and the older cars were not well maintained!
I feel bad for the bride and groom.
