Did anyone lie about their wedding date when buying your gowns?
I gave a full four week 'buffer' to the bridal salon and I was just curious if anyone else did this, and if you gowns came in on time, did you tell them you lied or did you just get your alterations done and stored the gowns at your house?
I figured I'd rather be safe than sorry, so I lied about my date, but now I'm not sure if it comes in (if it comes in on time or early) how I should handle it. I don't see hanging my gown at my house as a problem, but I was wondering if anyone did this and if you did anything in particular to protect/store it.
So far, my bridal salon has been really great about everything, so I actually feel bad about lying now, but everyone told me that it was best to do it. Since my BMs are getting their gowns there as well, we told them the same date.
Thanks for any info!

I also told them the wrong date. My wedding is June 10th, I told them it was April 15th. I was too scared to tell them the reald date, I didn't want to be worried about rushing for fittings.

A week buffer is fine. If you have a place to store it, then your set. Take it from me, your probably avoiding undue stress that might happen at the last minute.

Did you just tell them you lied? Did they make a big deal out of it? I'm sure I'm not the only one doing this, so I don't know why I feel so guilty about it! LOL
Thanks

Re: Did anyone lie about their wedding date when buying your gowns?
I originally told them the real date, and then I was in there again looking at BM dresses, and the girl helping us told me to change the date to an earlier one! I figured if someone that works there says its a good idea, then I'd better do it. My wedding is 5.28, and I told them 5/7, three weeks before. I don't think I am getting alterations there anyway, so it doesn't really matter.

Nobody told me to do this!!! I didn't even think about to be honest with you. Oh well, hopefully it will all work out. (If not, it's a good thing i don't get stressed easily).

I told the truth to the salon, but the salon told the manufacturer 3 weeks earlier.

Re: Did anyone lie about their wedding date when buying your gowns?
I was going to lie and may have lied at some of the other salons when looking for a dress, but I felt that the salon where I got my dress was professional and there wouldn't be a time issue. My dress came in around July 4th, which was plenty of time to get my fittings done.

I told them Labor Day Weekend, when I'm actually getting married Columbus Day Weekend. I figure when it gets here I'll just say I had to change the date (for whatever reason).

I gave the lady at Manhasset the real date. I was too excited to lie and she herself bumped it back a month and a half.
