Did anyone print their own envelopes?

I received my envelopes yesterday from Gaddis and I was wondering if any of you ladies printed you own envelopes? Is it worth even trying to do or should I just pay someone to do the calligraphy?? I need these invites to go out next week! PLease help!

I did. Actually my sister did, I personally have no idea how she did it.

If you are good with the computer I would say do it yourself. She made it look very easy. It took a few hours but we did outter and inner envelope. They looked beautiful!!

Re: Did anyone print their own envelopes?

I would definitely print the outer envelopes. They come out really nice. A friend of mine used Inkspun for computer calligraphy. Sje ended up needing 2 extra so I printed them on my computer and IMO they came out better.

I'm also using Gaddis for my invites. Did you get the pochettes? They won't fit in my printer so I was thinking of just leaving them blank. What are you doing?

I am definitely doing my own on a laser printer....they are going out around X-mas and if they get wet...the calligraphy would be ruined....plus I don't think it's one of the important details.

Jim and I are coming into the office on a Saturday and taking over the color laser printer to get ours done. Hehe.. evil buggers we are!

Xelindrya - just be careful of what printer you use. I tried to use my network laser printer and it melted the envelopes that were lined - bad thing. They worked much better (but a lot slower) on my little ole deskjet.

I did all my envelopes using my own printer - the only issue was the lined envelopes were a pain in the neck even with my deskjet - I couldn't let it print more than 1-2 in a batch or they would wrinkle a corner.

I never thought of leaving the pochettes blank, I asked Melissa If they would go through my printer and she said it would probably jam. So I don't know what to do with them. I think I am going to come in on Saturday and print the outer ones here at work.

I did it for my e-party invites and they came out awesome. We had an inner envelope lined and it didn't do any harm to the liner. What I did was as soon as the envelope was coming out of the printer, I grabbed the open part of the envelope and opened the flap so it wouldn't seal to the opposite side. Sometimes I forgot and it worked just fine. I will be doing the same for my wedding invites. I am using an HP Laser printer at work.

Re: Did anyone print their own envelopes?

I tried to put the pochette that came with my sample through my printer and it was too thick to even make it into the printer. I thought about making some kind of label to put on the pochette, but I don't think it would look very nice.

I just got an idea! Maybe a nameplate would work that you could place on top of the stack of invitation & cards. Lizard Designs does these. I could probably print these myself. Hmm...I'll have to figure something out.
Lizard Design's nameplates

I've also thought about writing the names on the pochette myself. Do you think that would take away from Melissa's beautiful invitations? I already went over budget with the invitations and I don't really want to spend any more money on calligraphy!

I did my own. You CAN NOT use a laser printer. I had thought the envelopes would look better, but the printer got too hot and the glue on the envelope became unstuck. You need to use an inkjet.

I did a mail merge of my list from Excel into Word and it was no problem. I had even found the matching font online and everyone thought they were done by the printer.

Re: Did anyone print their own envelopes?

I am using the same laser printer for the wedding invites as I used for my e-party invites. And I had no problems what so ever for the eparty envelopes. You have to grab the flap of the envelope as it comes out of the printer and separate it. I would also recommend feeding each envelope manually and individually print each address out not a few at a time. It takes a bit longer but it works perfectly. I would also have two people do this. One standing at the printer grabbing the flaps as the envelopes come out and one sitting at the computer pressing print.

Re: Did anyone print their own envelopes?

My glue problem on the laser wasn't with the flap. The entire envelope became unglued. More so with the inners, but the outers also.

I did mine on my computer inner and outer. I messed up quite a few and was glad that I had ordered extra, but I thought they came out great and was glad that I had not paid to have someone do it.

I didn't think inner envelopes had glue!
