Did anyone put an earlier time for the church on their invite?
If the church ceremony starts at 3 would you write 2:30 on the invite?
I don't want people coming in late!
Thanks

You can put 3 pm for the church time on your invite and then show up around 3:15 or 3:20.

My church is at 3:15 but 3 will be going on the invitations. I'm on a tight schedule that day and I'm not waiting for anyone.

I can't. I am under strict orders that it must start at 3.
I have been to weddings were I waited at least a half hour.

I put the exact time. I figured the most important people will be there on time.

I put the correct time . . . if people come late they miss out. I do not want people who know how to follow directions to be sitting there for 30 minutes thinking we are starting late. This happened at a wedding I went to and I was quite unhappy.

exactly what I was going to say!
Maybe it's my German genes, but I have no patience with people who cannot arrive punctually to a wedding ceremony. They deserve to miss things... Heck, knowing my church, if they show up during communion, they'll be locked out
as they should be....

Re: Did anyone put an earlier time for the church on their invite?
I'm not sure what I am going to do yet. My DOC suggested that I put down an earlier time, but I feel that since my ceremony is really at 6pm on a Friday night, if I make my invites for 5:30pm, then people won't think they can make it to the church on time!! I figure, if I indicate 6pm, maybe more people will make an attempt to show up at the church. As it is, I am sure there won't be that many people there, with getting out of work and such! Luckily, FH and I have big families!! HTH!

If people miss it, that's their problem, but I don't want them trickling in disturbing the ceremony.
A friend of mine told me a horrible story about some running behind her as she went done the aisle!
Plus I know people are going to be late because there is almost no parking around the church,
I wish I could include that in the invites!
Thanks Ladies!

Well to stop this for happening, you can position someone at the door to stop all people from coming in. Yes, the person doing this will miss the bride entering, but perhaps you could enlist the help of someone's date.
You could also spread by work of mouth that there is no parking and you need to allot time to do so.

Re: Did anyone put an earlier time for the church on their invite?
We put 15 min. earlier as the invitation time on our invites. The room where we are having our ceremony is not a very large room, so anytime anyone came in, it would be noticable. Plus since it's a short ceremony, if anyone was late, they could miss half of it.
ETA-Sorry, I just realized this was for a ceremony at the church. I know all the wedding's I've attended at a church, the actual time was on the invite.

Re: Did anyone put an earlier time for the church on their invite?
For a church wedding I've come to realize that it's not a good idea to put an earlier time. Honestly, there ARE people who know to be there 15-30 minutes before the written time so they will be super annoyed if the ceremony was actually set to start a half hour later - they could be sitting there for 45min-1hour!!!! Talk about unhappy guests!

I am getting married at 12:00 PM, but I put 11:30 AM on my invite. My banquet manager suggested an earlier time to allow for late comers.

Well I put 3:30 but I probably won't start until 3:40-3:45. I don't want people who come a few mins late to miss us walking down the aisle.

Re: Did anyone put an earlier time for the church on their invite?
I wrote 11am on the invite but it starts at 11:30. It's annoying for the people who are on time but so many of my guests are the type to be late. Besides, 11 looked better then 11:30.
