Re: Did anyone put 'No Gifts, please' on their invites?
my sister went to a birthday party.. the invite said no gifts... every single person brought a gift.. its almost pointless to write cause alot of people were raised to bring a gift.. however if my fiance received that he wouldnt bring a gift

Re: Did anyone put 'No Gifts, please' on their invites?
Proper etiquette says gifts should never be mentioned on the invite, regarless of for what reason. You could have close family and friends tell people that a donation to charity would be preferable, if people ask...or any gift you get could be donated to charity.

Re: Did anyone put 'No Gifts, please' on their invites?
Our wedding is more of a renewal but we really really don't want gifts. People were more generous than they should have been the first time. I don't want people to feel obligated.July~~~If not on the invitation, then how about a separate card mailed with the invite?

I don't know what Emily Post says on this...but i believe that a seperate card would not be a bad idea.

I went to an e-party that said no gifts. So instead, I made a really pretty cake and brought some beer and wine. EVERYONE brought gifts...I was embarrassed, I wish I brought a gift.

i could never write that on my wedding invitation. you have to sort of factor in that not everyone brings money.

For my parents 25th anniversary party they listed'Your presence is our only gift' or something like that and most people didn't bring a gift.

Re: Did anyone put 'No Gifts, please' on their invites?
A seperate card explaining that might be ok-but not inside the invitation...it should be mailed seperately. Really though, it should go by word of mouth instead. Good luck. What about a donation to charity? Then, if they give anonymous amounts, they can give $5 or $5000, depending on what they are comfortable with.

Yeah, I think it's a sweet way to say it too. No one found it rude or offensive in any way, believe me, with my family we would have HEARD for sure! They pick up on anything.
