Did anyone take their mom & MIL for any sonograms with them?
My DH would like to ask them if they want to come. The next one would be at my level 2 sonogram. Is there another sonogram after that one? I ask because maybe that isn't a good one to bring them in for. Any advise?

I invited my stepmom to my level 2 sonogram. At first, only I and DH were allowed in the room, then after a while they told my DH to go get her. She loved it.
I highly doubt they will let 4 people in the room with you though. And if they are busy they may not allow you to take extra time to go and get each person to come into the room for a while. I would call the u/s place and ask if it is okay to bring your mother and MIL. They may say only one person.
Level 2 is your long sonogram. Mine took about 40 minutes or so to complete. They measure everything, have to locate and see all 4 chambers of the heart, check your fluid levels etc..I only had my mom in with me for some 'fun' stuff like looking at the baby's hands and face.

Thanks Michele. I will ask. If they both can't come, then I won't have either one there. I want to be fair to them both. I will also see if it could just be me and DH for the most part like they did with you.

Natasha, when is your next one? I thought the last one is at 20 weeks.

My MIL came to the sono with JA, and my mom came this time. (My mom had already been to my sisters, and JA is my MIL's first grandchild, so I asked her at that time, my mom didnt mind at all). As far as bringing them in...ask in a way that you MUST have this 'there are exceptions to every rule' If the room is big enough to fit you all, I cant see the problem. and if the nurses/staff are nice people, again I cant see the problem.
I had to beg and plead that my sister be allowed in the OR when I had my c-section. They were ADAMANT about her not coming, there was no room. and I was blessed to have this anesthesiologist who was also a twin and she insisted that my sister be allowed in... and she came in.. now if THAT exception was made, in an OR....
So remember, its how you approach something. Try to be courteous (of course) well at that point in labor, I wasnt so courteous and try to tell them how much it would mean to them both ... IF they say no ask 'Why not?'...
LEt us know how it goes.

I had my husband and MIL for my 18th week sonogram... but my husband could only stay for about 10 minutes because he had to go back to work... when the technician heard him say that, she was very nice and showed him the baby.
I think it all depends on the place.

I had my mom (MIL lives too far) come to one of my sonos...she absolutely loved it. Seeing her excitment was so wonderful.

Sue- you can have your mom for one time and your MIL the next time.
BUT if you feel it is a moment for just you and DH, then that is also okay! You might be able to video tape some of it as well and then you can all share in it.

We brought my parents to the level 2 sono (when we found out the babys sex). It was such an emotional day to begin with (making sure the baby was developing normally) that to have my parents there made it that much more emotional. At the end of the very long sonogram when we found out we were having a girl, my father said (his face beaming with joy), 'I was hoping for another princess.' Of course that made me cry even more. But it was a wonderful experience for them and they were so happy to be there.
